I really like the SBS from the Rattle and Hum era...just Bono singing with The Edge's guitar and then after a couple of verses Larry and Adam jump in bringing the song full-throttle. Just brilliant.

Sunday Bloody Sunday has never, EVER been performed better than it was on that Rattle and Hum DVD. Everything from the emotion, to Bono's rasp, to the arrangement, to the crowd, to the mix on the DVD- it absolutely does not get better than that.

I cannot agree with you more.

  6. Album version of All I Want is You has never done it for me, ever. Best versions IMO have to be either PopMart versions, or the Buenos Aires (90% sure that was the location) one that closed the show on the Vertigo Tour. Some of the Lovetown ones are alright too.

Studio version just goes on a bit too long with a bit too much low-impact instrumental sections for me.

My favorite live performance ever by U2. So much was right that it could only have come off that way once, and they caught it for Rattle and Hum. epic

Best All I Want Is You imo is Popmart Mexico. Closely followed by the Slane version.

Nooooo waaaaaaaaaaayyyy... Live, AIWIY was just another pop-rock track with a good vocal performance and a nice crescendo. Studio, it's a beautiful hauting slow-and-yet-emotional ballad... That violins... That atmosphere.... Goosebumps every time!!
