Believe me, you're not the first person who's noticed this. I've heard this about 213421342 times already. It's only the fact that the first chord is similar in the progression, and that he's using delay single notes. Other than that, I'm sure the actual song will have a distinct guitar part. He was essentially only playing an "acoustic" version of it.
