1. Extracted from a interview to Bono in a Spanish magazine I found today (El País - 28th of February, 1997).

I think we have three kind of fans.

One: the ones who got stuck in Sunday Bloody Sunday.
    Two: the hard-die fans.
Three: the ones who understand that we've grown up, learnt new things and evolved... and they enjoy what are we doing now.

Well, unfortunately we can't do nothing for the first kind ; we can try to help the second ones ; ..... but our true public is the third kind.

For those who got stuck in Sunday Bloody Sunday, Acrobat, Stay or Mofo,

    kind regards,

    a fan who has evolved
  2. waitwait,

so does that mean we should or should not want them to play acrobat?
  3. I really dont understand it . Should we be happy with songs like IALW and Walk on ??

  4. So the hard-die (hope that is actually die-hard ) fans can't love the old AND the new U2 ? That's bullshit

  5. Agreed.

I have songs from every album I like.
I have songs from every album I dont care for.
  6. There are three kinds of U2 fans:
The ones who listen to everything Bono says
The ones who listen to somethings that Bono says
The ones that only listen to what he sings.

I think that I belong in the third type.

(just a joke, please don't get offended)
  7. Haha, interesting view from a man who's played "I will follow" in every single tour since 1980!
  8. Sergio!!
  9. Hmm indeed, it doesn't makes sense

As i understood it, it would be
1 : People who only like the hits.
2 : People who only like the old U2.
3 : People who only like the new U2.

If you read the last 2 sentences of Sergio's post, that's Bono's interepretation, otherwise 2 and 3 would be equal ; but imo a die hard is someone who loves everything about U2...
  10. No, no...

    1. Those who only like the 80's and believe that they should go back to basics because everything else is for queers. (not literally, but... you get the idea of how they think.)
    2. The ones who spend $400 on sunglasses to look like Bono while following them on tour with a "Play Acrobat!!!" sign.
    3. The ones who appreciate the twists and turns and commitment that is required to be a U2 fan that parallels that of maintaining a marriage.
  11. That's another interpretation...
Still can't see why someone doesn't love their Die Hard fans anyway, cause even with your interpretation, a die hard still loves the new U2...

Oh well, not going to think about it anymore

There really is very little between 2 and 3. If I had the money, I would easily be 2 lol.
