1. You know the way you have that one U2 song no one can fault, and no matter what criticisms others have they melt like butter in an oven?

That's Mercy to me, and to me i'll be overjoyed when they play it.

Over-intellectualizing a concert makes no sense to me, and ruins the experience.

Enjoy the hits, celebrate the rarities, take in the moment. (Even if it gets tired)

That's the best way to do it.

Cedars of Lebanon and Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car for me.
  4. It was for joost, but I was just poking fun, I'm not trying to be a dick

  5. Criticisms of Mercy melt like butter on toast.

  6. If they performed Mercy with the Being Born part of Fez - Being Born, it would be spectacular, what with the "I am alive again, I am born again and again and again" words. Maybe Fez - Being Born entirely, then leading into Mercy?

and I have to correct myself. Mercy was mentioned in Blender magazine before the bomb release. Described as six-and-a-half minute outpouring of U2 at its most uninhibitedly U2-ish.
The "too long album" thing is mentioned there, too:

Ah ok, will have to correct myself as well as I had read that Blender description of the song before.
So maybe some of the 'unfinished' lyrics are just a product of HTDAAB era Bono.

I did notice that from their rehearsal of it there seem to be quite a few reworked lyrics. (which is a good thing).

And for the record (from that collector's edition page) Bono has terrible handwriting.
  8. Anyone got a link to the "wish song for the new tour section site" that ws on u2.com, would be intressting to read how many that wrote that they wanted to hear Mercy.
