I disagree, but to each their own. Unknown Caller is the only track on NLOTH that I lunge for the Skip button for.

watch out he might start having a go at you for liking the rest of NLOTH!!

I was lost between midnight and the dawning
In a place of no consequence or company
3:33 when the numbers fell off the clock face

You can hardly call those bad lyrics - they're certainly better than:

You’re gonna kill me and I wanna die
We were meant for each other, you and I
    ..
    Because, because, because we can
    We must

  3. That's not the point - liking a song and stating that it has good lyrics are not equivalent.

  4. oooh im really sorry i dont agree with you on quality of lyrics...
  5. I find the music of Mercy to be emotionally evocative. Lyrical weakness aside, I find it superior to Unknown Caller's "Walk On Redux" music.

Besides, I find Mercy to be the same as UC: amazing verses with weak chorus.

  6. Well, no one's going to stop you from liking bad lyrics.

Well Mercy only really has one extended verse at the start and the "if you hunger" verse and the rest are just various refrains and choruses so I agree with you. I've always said the opening verse to Mercy has brilliant lines and that the rest of the song was not as good.

Unknown Caller has a completely different feel to Walk On, though the beginning of the chorus riff is similar to the one in Walk On.

And the song has easily the best bridge they've done for a long time.

  9. Mercy is one of the best hidden tracks U2 have done in the past 20 years, this along with Soon,Every Breaking Wave and Glastonbury prove they are still capable of writing really powerful rock songs which they can play live. Saying that i did not get the live version of Mercy, this song has wicked lyrics and a goosebumpy chorus why they didnt perform the song in its pure state i dont know i just hope they are not going to slice and dice it into a 3 min song, have seen them a few times on the 360 tour and yes its a groundbreaking live show which leaves you exhausted at the end but in hindsight they could of done so very much more with the setlist, i think fans are getting tired of Bono talking WOW instead of the intense singingand id happily swap Pride for The Fly or Ina little while for Bullet etc. They have a good few days between gigs so they have more energy and should start earlier play more songs for the fans cause the spaceship is carrying them when Bonos vocals turn to talking, come on guys blow the world away. Finally i think it was a big mistake to bring out the Rosbowl DVD as this leg of the tour is far better, and i think they know it
  10. Great to see Mercy given a LIVE debut, i guess that means it will definitely be on the next album......right?

Always loved the song, just has this infectious vibe going along, and couldn't care less when, or on what, as long as it is released in some shape or form.

Will the newer version be better than the demo version? irrelevant for me, it's great either way!

If they play Mercy either night in Mlebourne, i will EXPLODE... ..and a big FUCK YEEEEAH fist pump.
