  1. So, bad experiences at 1 gig = No show there ever again? When are the petitions against Barcelone, Turin, Vienna, Munich and so on start?

    Don't get me wrong, I'm sorry that you got hurt. But from what I read and experienced, there were some problems at 2 gates. Some caused by the fans, not the security. The situation clearly could have been handled better, but that petition - the way it is worded now - is ridiculous.
  2. nah iv spoke to alot of fans who have been to more than just u2 gigs at the stadium, and this has apparently been an ever present problem which no one had the bottle to take action on.

    some fans i spoke to said it happened at last years u2 concerts at the same venue also, but some others say it has happened at most gigs that have happened there, not just u2. its a problem that obviously needs addressing and if they cant handle large crowds for events then they shouldnt be holding them, simple as that.

    and as i said, i went to stade de france for a u2 concert and another event and both occasions i had problems with security and crush, this however was the worst for me, too many people are getting hurt here and it needs to stop.
  3. Concerts are meant for having fun, not to get angry and/or hurt because of poor security. I really don't know it if's a constant problem at this venue, or has happened only once or twice - in both cases I'm all against such venue&organistion. French are great people and Paris is a 100% amazing city, so they shouldn't have their names linked to poor organisation and chaos.
  4. I heard from a lot of people that everything went smooth. Some people say security was tight, some people say they didn't even control their bags. Hard to build facts on hearsay...
    Anyway, hope you'll get better soon.
  5. Of course not all 96000 had problems. But a petition like this cant hurt. Never a bad idea to improve safety. Just look what a loose manhole cover caused during the love parade.

    Anyway for GA its a terrible stadium, so many gates that it is impossible to open them on the same time. There were guys sleeping at the venue that didnt make it in the circle

    I absolutely agree. I don't know about France, but in Italy you can't really go to a football match with your kids. It's too dangerous.



    In the UK, by contrast, you can. And you can go to a U2 concert with your kids, GA tickets. You may also start queueing early in the morning with them, if you want to. As far as I know, the brits got where they are after a number of problems - tragedies - with the hooligans. They reacted, and stadiums are now a safe place. I think one could, and should, learn from them.

    To yeah: yes, there were many silly people at the gates, who did silly things. But I blame the lack of policemen or security forces knowing what to do -- not them. We can't leave the safety of the stadiums to whether people are silly or not. They must be safe irrespective of who's queueing. Then yes, perhaps it is true that the brits are in general more disciplined than, say, the italians. But, in my opinion, this is all the more a reason to make sure queues in Italy and France are safe.

  10. On a more serious note, does the stadium have a policy on overnight sleepers and queues? Most do and most get ignored by over eager fans. Any small print on the back of the ticket or on the venue website? It was built as a sporting venue and that's still its main function. Sports fans don't queue up at all the gates so the stadium won't have catered for it (nor I imagine will they be accepting any responsibility for injuries etc incurred by fans).
  11. Dont know if there is a policy, but there were not many staying the night. And regardless the purpose of the venue, has to be safe when they use it for a concert.
  12. I know fellow U2 fans who decided already before this tour not ever to go to the Paris shows again. They've had bad experiences during the Vertigo tour and tours before that.

    Reading the stories of this show, all I can say is that they were right not to go.

    I was at the Helsinki shows last month, and everything was so well organised. Both in Helsinki and Paris, there were loads of fans from abroad. So I guess the main difference is how much effort the local security wants to put in.
