Not to sound rude or underwhelming for you, but... They suck live. THey're not bad at all on studio (I like very much some of their songs), but they suck live. Or that's what I could judge from 2 bootlegs, an official live album and some reviews of three friends of mine, who are pretty much hardcore fans. It's just they lack... something.
But compare to U2 there arent much great live bands. With U2 imo most of the live songs are better then the album versions. I dont think there are a lot of bands/artist who can say that.
BTW: Oasis- Cast No Shadow (Live)
... But just to keep your argument, Oasis doesn't sound neccesarely better live, but they have that something that MCR don't. Of course they don't play on the same league as U2 or Bruce Springsteen or Led Zeppelin or xxx, but it's not neccesary. There are lots of amateur bands, that sound authentic and great live. MCR just doesn't.
