1. I'd say early next year. Maybe right before they come back to North America. I think if it was going to come out late this year we'd be hearing more about it, but it's definitely possible!
  2. I agree. Maybe a single or EP this fall, and then the album next May.

  3. And means just as little in this thread as it did there
  4. It would be cool if SA was released as an EP and then included in a special edition of No Line On The Horizon like Prospek's March was for Coldplay's Viva la Vida. What do you all think?
  5. I need this album to come out sooo bad. It's gonna be great!!

    (Also, 100th post!)

It'd be better if it was seperate so I don't have to pay for a second copy of No Line - already bought the big box set.
  7. On my IPod, I now have the following for "Unreleased & Rare Volume 5 Disc 1" (the first four volumes being my eight discs of b-sides, outtakes and the like from 1978-2007):

No Line on the Horizon 2
Crazy Tonight (Redanka Kick The Darkness Vocal Mix)
Stranded (Bono, The Edge, Jay Z and Rihanna)
    Winter
    Soon
    Mercy (Live)
    North Star (Live)
Return of the Stingray Guitar (Live)
    Glastonbury (Live)
    Every Breaking Wave (Live)

I guess I already have my U2 EP. Sure would like the studio versions, and a few more songs, though.
  8. I keep hoping there is an announcement made but I guess we really won't get anything this year.

  9. Probably not, but i wouldn't rule it out until this leg of the tour is over
  10. U2 will release a new album in early 2011 called 'Songs of Ascent" manager Paul McGuinness has revealed.

Speaking to the IrishTimes McGuinness said “I would expect a new U2 album sooner than anybody thinks. I would guess early 2011 before the next leg of the American tour which starts in May,”

He said several songs from the new album have already been released, including 'Mercy', 'Every Breaking Wave', and 'Boys Fall from the Sky'. The album has been given the title 'Songs of Ascent'.

He also defended sales figures for No Line on the Horizon , which he claimed had held up “remarkably well” despite many stories saying the album was a flop and a comment by producer Steve Lillywhite that it did not work.

Lillywhite later disputed the accuracy of the comments .

It sold “roughly” five million copies McGuinness revealed.

Their 2004 album 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb' had sold twice that number.

The promotion of the album was badly disrupted when Bono hurt his back in May, was operated on and was sidelined causing the cancelation of the tour
