The behringer, although most of their pedals are sort of second-hand-ish and not as good, the reverb machine is supposed to be an exact clone of the verbzilla, some people say its even better. Normally I wouldn't touch behringer, but that pedal has gotten good reviews from some guitarists that I know well and have great tone.
The Maxon is a great sounding compressor that is meant to sound like the vintage dynacomps. The new dynacomps, even the reissues of the "vintage" ones sound a bit crappy. They're nowhere near a vintage dyna comp, which sound awesome, but they are MAD expensive. The CP101 is a great alternative, and it's not too too expensive.

As you can see, you're also not the only one passionate! Believe me, I research gear all the time so I know what i"m getting into/looking for.

ok the only one I would really beg you to reconsider is the behringger. Unless its CONSIDERABLY cheaper then the verbzilla.
  2. Can anyone help I am trying to see if the block inlays on Adam's Purple Sparkle P bass are Black block inlay or Abalone shell as per his gold ones. I have seen some pics but it is quite hard to work out.................One cool looking bass though, any help appreciated thanks.
  3. Does anyone know what the thing is Edge uses to keep picks in on top of his les paul? I've noticed that when he takes a guitar out wirelessly onto whatever B-stage they have going (noticed especially on the Boston dvd during in a little while and stuff) he has a little black thing on the upper side of his les paul with a few picks in it. Anyone know where I can find one of these?
  4. The sound Edge uses on Numb, how exactly does he get that?

It sounds perfect for industrial music.

  5. It's a preset on his Korg A3, I believe it's called "buzz saw" but don't quote me on that.

To be honest, you can get the sound with just a basic distortion, not too intense, even a heavy overdrive would do, and a flanger. Those two things together and you've got it. As for the speed and depth of the flanger and the perfect amount of overdrive or distortion, well you just gotta figure that out by ear!

But essentially, distortion/heavy overdrive and a Flanger effect will do the job.

It looks like some kind of rails in which the picks are placed. Something tells me that it is custom, but I may obviously be wrong.
Why don't you get one of these?

  7. Korg A3 with SPC-01 card (or the cards sounds loaded into the A3). I don't remember the exact name of the patch but it's in there. And as mentioned it is essentially distortion and flanger.

Korg A3 arrived during the Achtung Baby sessions and was used for a number of Achtung Baby and Zooropa tunes. That said, some of the Zooropa tunes were left-overs from the Achtung Baby sessions. "Numb" was called "Down All Days" in it's earlier incarnation during the Achtung Baby sessions.
  8. He also uses a gated effect doesn't he? Think I read it in U2 by U2

  10. What about the solo in Babyface? I've tried to get that sound for some days now, but nothing sounds even close to it...

  11. I don't know if you're talking about the lead part in the last chorus, or the weird little solo/break around 2:48...this is for that break.

It sounds like a distortion pedal as opposed to overdrive, with a wide flange. Actually, quite similar to "Numb". Also, if you have an expression wah pedal, try engaging it and finding that "sweet spot" and leaving it there. My wah has provided the "missing piece" to many sounds I've struggled with
  12. What the fuck, I must be sick or something. I was asking for the solo in Some Days Are Better Than Others, not about Babyface!!! Sorry
