Haha no worries, let me listen to it really quick...
  2. Sounds like a mixture of incredibly high gain, EQ with no mid, wah engaged and all the way up (pedal facing upwards, not pressed down)...literally just as much fuzz as you could throw on there. I have a multi-effect processor, and I would set the amp modeler to a fuzz amp and turn the gain all the way up, for example.

    Just an amateur opinion.
  3. I've tried with a total fuzz with zero echo and with some wah thrown there, but didn't sound right. Maybe the wah I chose was wrong, I will try this evening. Thanks in advance, I hope I can get it right this time

By the way, Matt, you have a pretty good trained ear when it comes to effects and sounds in general, don't you? I struggle and struggle to get a sound right, and never know which effects would (or not) work to get a sound right. I have a good ear for playing but not a good ear for sounds and effects. I wish I did...
  4. "Somedays Are Better Than Others" solo tone IS brilliant. I have not tried that one... I will have two work on it.

Sounds like some sort of broken fuzz. Not like the unit itself was broken but a broken tone. I will have to putz around and see if I can figure that one out. I will ask around a bit too... Great tone.

I think a lot has to do with manipulating that EQ, too...keeping your treb a little higher than usual, the bass about equal, and killing the mid can make those bright distortion tones really crackle.
  6. Yeah yeah I messed with the EQ as well, killing the mediums had a strong effect and got me closer to the sound, but....... I didn't get it 100%. Maybe some Jeff Help could do, thanks for joinging mate
  7. I asked about it in U2 Recording Group too. So maybe someone has decoded that one. I will try to work on it too. Does sound to be a broken fuzz kind of thing. EQ and filtering could be part of the ingredients.

I like a challenge. I will see if I can figure some of this out. I have always that tone.
  8. Someone mention U2 by U2 mentioning a gated effect on "Somedays...".

Only mention of gated effect in U2 by U2 in the Zooropa section, that I found, was in regards to "Lemon". Near bottom of page 249 (Of the larger first edition)
  9. Sorry I meant a gated effect on Numb but I checked it and yeh it's not Numb, I knew I saw it somewhere though, must have been Lemon

"Numb" is a flanger. Might be a gated effect too. The tone is in the Korg A3 SPC-01 card.
  11. Thinking about putting a pair of P94's in my LP custom to replace the stock epi pickups. I've always preferred P90's to humbuckers, and these are essentially humbucker sized P90's, so I'm seriously considering it. Anybody had any experience? I've read that they totally rock.

  12. P-90's are humbucker size. They are also single coil pickups. I think that the P-94's are single coil also. They won't sound as dark and rich as a humbucker but the P-90 sound (and assuming it's upgraded P-94 counterpart) do offer some great tones. Think "Billie Joe" from Green Day. And that ain't a bad thing
