1. I can understand Larry and Adam.

They werent involved in the creation of the Spidey songs, so I can imagine that there are things they dont like about them. Or they just dont like to jump in a recording at the near end, after the songs are written.

I think they are right, but maybe the 4 guys and tweak the songs so that everyone can say 'those are our songs'.

  2. I agree. And they seem to be working with interesting and current producers. It would be interesting to see how they mesh with a rock band.

  4. Pop is a dance album?

Anyway, Danger Mouse might get them some fresh air. He produced some good stuff in the past. Looking more forward to this than to a reworked to death SoA. I wonder when they recorded the tracks, though.
But then again it's Bono, so it's probably 12 drum loops, guitar riffs and oh oh yeah yeah lines.
  5. From Wiki:

"Brian Joseph Burton (born July 29, 1977), better known by his stage name Danger Mouse, is an American musician and producer. He came to prominence in 2004 when he released The Grey Album, which combined acapellas from Jay-Z's The Black Album with instrumentals from the album The Beatles (also known as The White Album).

He formed Gnarls Barkley with Cee-Lo Green and produced their albums St. Elsewhere and The Odd Couple. He produced the second Gorillaz album, 2005's Demon Days, as well as Beck's 2008 record, Modern Guilt. He was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Producer of the Year category. In addition, Burton worked with rapper MF Doom as Danger Doom and released the album The Mouse and the Mask and the EP Occult Hymn.
In 2009 he collaborated with James Mercer of the indie rock band The Shins to form Broken Bells. The group's first album was released on March 9, 2010."
    (end of quote...)

    could be interesting...

btw: it's almost time to close this topic: SoA is dead. (rip).
    Long live the new U2 2011 album-topic.

Playing Boy Falls from the Sky full band live is a nice step forward.

    Love both of these albums...
  8. I would love to hear the Spiderman songs performed by U2.

As for the dance album: Not so sure about that one. But it's Bono. Whatever he's saying, I take it with a huge grain of salt.
  9. I'm not sure about Danger Mouse, don't like Gorillaz, would have preferred them to get a Euro dance/ electronic producer than a US one.

I don't get how they're going to have a climb album and a Danger Mouse one - wouldn't the two projects be too similar?

Actually I really doubt that Danger Mouse is actually producing a whole album for them, it is far more likely that the album is what was SoA and Danger Mouse is just working with them on finishing tracks much like will.i.am was with NLOTH.

That is the only explanation that can reconcile this with McGuiness' recent comments on releasing an album in early '11 - they're not going to release two albums so it's likely both articles are talking about the same album.
  10. Since there's no word on Songs Of Ascent since a long time ago, I've renamed the topic a bit
  11. What I am really interested in is, what happend with the rick rubin stuff? Do you think the songs they wrote for the album they wanted to record with him will ever see the light of day?
He produced saints and windows and I really like both tracks.

I'd love to hear that songs instead of songs produced by a mouse.
