    That's ridiculous.
I remember i even received a link to all the songs of NLOTH by PM 2 weeks before the official release without even asking, so...

Plus, what's wrong with posting you're e-mail here ? It's not like they shared a link in public.

So euhm, WHAT's the right way to ask for you-know-what then ?
"Please don't send a link or hint on my pm, cause i really don't want it, hint hint" ?
  2. As long as it's not a direct request for commercially released material then we are good. It may seem restrictive but its better than getting shit down. Just keep an eye on the usual dodgy torrent sites.
  3. Glenn, enough. Read the House Rules carefully and then try to understand that we can't accept public requests and/or offers of officially released and copyrighted material, just for the legal safety of our web. If you have received official material via PM in the past, congratulations. But not this time.

  4. Yeh I was just saying not to
do it so publicly, behind the closed doors of your PMs is different.
  5. while i'm willing to accept the policy here at u2start, i will have no problem letting everyone know that interference openly has "request" threads where you just leave your email address and gracious U2 fans help each other out....even with official material.

not trying to stray anyone away from this site, just trying to help a couple people out.

ps. WAIE hasn't surfaced anywhere on the internet yet. i just checked what.cd. not there either.

I understand, but still find it ridiculous that it seems to be possible for some things and totally unacceptable for others.
Like i said, i received a mail from Remy (i think, should look it up again), way out of nowhere, with something like "As you are a long-time member, we would like to share the songs from NLOTH in advance with you here (Link)..."
So please stick to your rules anytime then, instead of changing your mind now and then, then it's more acceptable i guess. I hope you understand that.

You can't come in here and ask for stuff visibly on the boards, but if you know that I have it, send me a PM and I'll sort you out. Likewise, the guys at the top didn't share NLOTH visibly in a thread, they stopped people publicly requesting the songs by kindly PM'ing their members. Hope this clarifies things.

Of course I don't have it before anyone asks.

I said enough, but seeing you want to go on with this stupid discussion, and seeing you haven't carefully read the house rules, I find myself obligued to copypaste a line here:

    # We reserve the right to adjust these rules or any other rules on this page when situations occur where the rules can't be applied correctly.
    # Decisions of the U2start crew are final in any matter and can overrule (some of the) rules mentioned here.

    Clear enough?

Anyway, Tim has the right point. Back in February 18th when NLOTH leaked, the crew decided to send a download link to all users with more than 1000 posts on our forums - mainly to stop the offer-request game that was going to happen on the boards. And it worked: everyone who wanted a copy, had a copy - whether sent by the U2start crew or by another collegue on the forums. Nobody requested it publicly, nobody offered it, everybody got a copy but our forums stayed safe. We just considered it was the best option back then. But who are you to judge if we want to do the same again or change our mind? ...
  9. And again, if anyone doesn't agree with a crewmember you get an angry reaction. That's really a shame, as you all do a good job on this site, as long as we agree.

Like i said, i DID read the rules, DO understand and WILL follow them, but i still find it somehow ridiculous that the crew can change the rules when and how they want. I think that's a fair point. I don't expect you to agree or get a friendly answer.

I will say no more to avoid getting banned. Thanks for the explanation about NLOTH.

No chances of being banned. We are stricter now than we were then due to a few infringement communications that we received. That's why we now have to say NO to all requests.
  11. Maybe a stupid question but when is this EP coming out??
