  2. fixed. As a matter of speaking however there is no other country in the Americas (that i'm aware of anyways) which has America as part of their country name. Thus i feel America is a justifiable way to refer to the United States in short
  3. It wasn't aimed only/directly/mostly at you. It's just the bad habit of confusing a continent with a single country.

  5. I think it's universally accepted that America means the USA. And there is no continent called 'America', there are two - North America or South America which are collectively called the Americas

    It's a bit pedantic to pull people up for using America instead of the USA, it's only a forum post not a diplomatic agreement or something.

    In other news I bloody hope Assange gets released (it'd be cool if someone breaks him out)

    Good now terrorists can have vital security information stolen from the US government which outlines key targets which are vulnerable to strike. The potential deaths of thousands of innocent Americans is an acceptable tradeoff for the "truth"

    I have no idea how comparing the use of 'America' as a term for the US to Nazi propaganda constitutes an argument.

    And of course basic logic would defeat any argument that 'America' is an incorrect term for the US as US citizens are called "Americans" and not United Statesians or United States of Americans etc.

    So for English speakers at least, it is perfectly fine to use America
