  1. I wouldn't mind if they keep playing until their 60 (or even older), as long as they put up good shows, why not? Aerosmith can do it, and they're much older.
    I don't think I would want them to announce their last show, cause it would be a very sad concert, and that's not what U2 concerts are supposed to be, aren't they?

  2. Would it be better to officially call it a day with an announcement / tour or just do what Bowie seems to have done and just fade away. Bowie fans are torn between 'he owes us an announcement' and 'by saying nothing it keeps all doors open' realistically Bowie is 63 got a young daughter and was ill so does he need the LP / Promotion / Tour cycle that will take him up to a year to complete.. I would imagine U2 will one day be faced with a 2year world tour and think sod it and that will be it

    You're right with the hints but these are happening due to the cost of the claw, they need the shows not to be in deficit. Not the 360 Tour contains the most shows, moreover it is one of the Tours with less given shows. But if you consider the amount of the tickets and the price it is the top. 360 is a unique tour but definitly not the last one. Don't worry after 2-3 years of rest Bono will always miss the stage.

    I talked about this with some other fans in Amsterdam, saying "a tour and stage THIS big... Beautiful farewell isn't it ?"

    But those other fans said "Well, people said the same during ZooTV and Popmart. U2 just proves it always CAN be bigger, more fantastic, newer."

    Furthermore, Bono has been saying during a lot of shows "we'll see you soon" or something like that.

    So i don't think/i hope this isn't their last.

    I do believe it'll probably be a bit smaller from now on.

    I think first off you need to keep in mind their contract with Live Nation. I assume there will be some other tours (unless numerous legs of 360 count?)

    I do like the point someone brought up about 360. I kept thinking "there is no way it can get bigger than this..." but then again that has been thought before as well. I do think they will go indoors next, but who knows how long they will tour with 360 especially with the talk of several albums in the works?
  6. I can definitely understand where some of you guys are coming from, in that the hints are there. However, as someone else pointed out, they've also been saying things like "see you soon", and "our best work is still in front of us" which leads me to believe they aren't finished just yet. But if there was ever a tour to end on, this would be it. It's the best tour of their career (in my opinion) song-wise, performance-wise, stage presence-wise, and production-wise. It's just amazing. I don't think they'd end their career on an album like NLOTH that didn't have them on top of the world in terms of album sales and all that. Something tells me when they do go out, they'll want to go out on top.
  7. I think it'd be epic for them to finish this tour, after Dublin obviously, after a few years start to play arenas, then whip out the claw for a huge farewell tour that will have people killing for tickets

    Yep, i've heard about that, but can someone please tell me what's that really about ?
    I mean, is it really stated somewhere they have to do 3 tours or so ?
  9. I think they need to stop trying to be the world's biggest rock 'n' roll band at some point, and leave that job to the next generation. They should maybe keep going for the platinum albums and the live stadium tours until about 2015, and then say, "okay, we've had our time in the stoplight, let's make artsy, old folks music now." In 2016 they cut an album with the Chieftains, in 2018 they do a cover album of songs by the all the bands that have imitated U2 over the years, in 2020 we get U2 Unplugged, in 2022 we get the first U2 symphony. In 2025 Adam starts playing jazz clubs, Bono writes a play, The Edge starts doing soundtracks, Larry becomes a lounge singer in Vegas.

    I think their next tour should definitely be a stripped-down, arena-based tour and focus more on the songs (not that they don't now) and less on the stage around them. Elevation style!

    Yes, I like what Bowie did. No clear retirement annoucement although it's now painfully obvious he is now.
