Tour: U2 360° Tour
Songs played: 25
Audio recordings: 0

  1. I hope the poor thing won't break down now after all these many many concerts. in Brussels I saw some folks up there in the celing repairing bits of the screen just before the 2nd show (actually shot a pic of that, should dig it out). Here's to hope they keep it working.
  2. The show was fantastic. I am not over-exaggerating when I say it was better than the Lovetown and Zoo TV Tours. LoveTown had a couple of the weaker Rattle and Hum tracks played and ZooTV had too much acting. The cheap $40 seats had a very good and close view of the stage and the band came over to us many times unlike what some people are saying on u2gigs and others. The sound was much, much better than expected, although it was a bit quiet compared to indoor gigs.

Highlights: Until The End Of The World, Bad, One, Amazing Grace, Where The Streets Have No Name, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, Moment Of Surrender

Lowlights: The Edge's many, many guitar mistakes

    Other things:

    * For some reason you're not allowed to bring bottle lids into the stadium, but you're allowed to bring the bottle.
    * The show was not fully sold-out.
    * Jay-Z's horn section usually just danced.
    * Jay-Z was clearly disappointed with the lack of crowd reaction.
    * People in my area in front of me first sat down during a new song (Magnificent) but luckily they didn't leave during Moment Of Surrender.
    * There was no real encore. Straight after Walk On finished the Desmond Tutu speech intro to One was played. Straight after Where The Streets Have No Name the alien intro to Ultra Violet or Batman. Was it like this at all the other shows this year?
    * Crowd reaction was excellent during Elevation, I Still Haven't Found, Vertigo, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Where The Streets Have No Name and With Or Without You.
    * Moment Of Surrender IS a great show closer, despite maybe a few hundred in the stadium leaving. I am glad that they played it instead of cutting the set short like the second night in Brisbane because they were running over time.
    * Do They Know It's Christmas? was played straight after I Still Haven't Found NOT just before Stuck In A Moment.
    * There were British, Irish and American people everywhere
    * I got a program and a red jumper at the show.
    * There were a few people selling what I think were bootleg shirts on the street after the show.
    * One had the special "hear us coming" part in it.
    * In A Little While had a creepy Bono moment.

  3. Yeah, there was one of those towards the end of last nights show as well.
  4. And we're a go!

    01. Stingray
    02. Beautiful Day
    03. New Years Day
    04. Get On Your Boots (replace it with Stand Up Comedy! )
    05. Magnificent
  5. Very interesting setlist so far.

We are slowly heading to the rotation spots, I am expecting Last Night on Earth... xD
  8. Gonna quote what you've got there Bob and reply to each one. Here goes:

I thought the $40 seats would be utter dosh but from what I've read and seen, they're not that bad. For $40 can you complain? The sound in Melbourne was terrible for the first 3-4 songs and then it picked up. I noticed a sudden rush of technicians coming out on the stage at about when Boots started and then it picked up from there so I figured there was the problem.

Same for me although the real highlight was Bad and MoS. Incredible performances. The band mistakes is what makes it even more live, rather than seeming so tight and choreographed. I'd prefer a show with 20 mistakes rather than none to give it a real-live feel.

    Other things:

    * For some reason you're not allowed to bring bottle lids into the stadium, but you're allowed to bring the bottle.

That's weird. The bottle but no lid - surely you'd just say the bottle and lid aren't allowed straight out.

    * The show was not fully sold-out.

Keep in mind what day it was on. People may not want a concert straight after work or before work.

    * Jay-Z's horn section usually just danced.
    * Jay-Z was clearly disappointed with the lack of crowd reaction.

Jay-Z was fucking weak regardless. Only good thing was the beginning of Dream On - ''Oh my god it's Sing For The Moment!!!'' What the fuck is Sing For The Moment - the song is Dream On!!! I sat down for him anyway.

    * People in my area in front of me first sat down during a new song (Magnificent) but luckily they didn't leave during Moment Of Surrender.

Magnificent is a hell of a lot better when live. It's not saying much but I don't like it - but I did live.

    * There was no real encore. Straight after Walk On finished the Desmond Tutu speech intro to One was played. Straight after Where The Streets Have No Name the alien intro to Ultra Violet or Batman. Was it like this at all the other shows this year?

    Yep.

    * Crowd reaction was excellent during Elevation, I Still Haven't Found, Vertigo, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Where The Streets Have No Name and With Or Without You.

As predictable as tax returns. Elevation in particular (urgh).

    * Moment Of Surrender IS a great show closer, despite maybe a few hundred in the stadium leaving. I am glad that they played it instead of cutting the set short like the second night in Brisbane because they were running over time.

Why would you leave early during a concert? Maybe the traffic but it's gonna be nuts any time you leave from the show ending to 90 minutes afterwards!!!

    * Do They Know It's Christmas? was played straight after I Still Haven't Found NOT just before Stuck In A Moment.

    Oooooh nice.

    * There were British, Irish and American people everywhere

We had a German guy in the line who said he'd been all around the world to see the show and previous tours. Lucky guy.

    * I got a program and a red jumper at the show.

Those programs are nice but expensive. My shirt cost $50 - in all merchandise in less than five minutes set me back $80!!!

    * There were a few people selling what I think were bootleg shirts on the street after the show.

There were two guys in the elevator back at the hotel doing just this and I got a sort of bad vibe, like I wanted to get out of there.

    * One had the special "hear us coming" part in it.
    * In A Little While had a creepy Bono moment.

I was waiting for that HUC or Shine Like Stars bits but never got them. Oh well - and was the creepy Bono moment getting some young girl up there for a singalong?

I agree about the mistakes, I love Popmart Las Vegas for example...
By the way - the D-smile is really weird...
  10. All I Want Is You!
  11. Ok, All I Want Is You + Love Rescue Me, this is quite interesting.
  12. .. and Love rescue me
