2010-12-14 - Sydney
Tour: U2 360° Tour
Songs played: 25
Audio recordings: 0
  1. It is good news to hear that they played "Love Rescue Me" for the first time in 20+ years.

Good to see them bringing out some lesser played songs for this leg of the tour. I am hoping that will be a trend. I hope that continues.
  2. Wow, what a day/ night - I only just got back as our car's battery conveniently died.

I was SO close to the band, right on the walkway railing itself in the inner circle at the front, saw all the band members - Bono even did a little Lemon-style Macphisto dance right in front of me.

Had a great speech I thought - referenced the Lovetown doc shot in Sydney and ZooTV and Adam's non attendance - Bono also said It was a better crowd than last night (but he might always say that).

Even just one rare song every 5/6 shows would be more than enough given the amount of shows they have left to play.
  4. (I'm on my iPhone in bed, hence the multiple posts - I can't see what I'm typing after a certain post length)

Anyway, the stadium was actually pretty full - I would say the entire arena floor and 70% of the seats. Seated crowd was also quite good - they did a couple of consecutive Mexican waves that made it entirely around the stadium while waiting for Jay Z. I don't even remember our crowd when we went for the 2000 Olympics managing that. There definitely wasn't mass exodus during MoS either because throughout the song the entire stadium was a galaxy of phones (including the furthest seats)

And the pit was definitely alive - did not see anyone - not even 50 year old ladies sitting down during U2 or Jay Zs set and
  5. Seeing the band in the flesh was amazing - Adam did take his shirt off (lots of silver chest hair), Bono was flinging sweat off his jacket everywhere - he really knows how to get the crowd moving.

He did bring up a small boy during COBL, yes he was terrified but he seemed to have a disability (he had a big hearing aid on)

We were screaming loudly during Bono's mention of Lovetown - I was trying to get them to play All Along the Watchtower. He played AIWIY as a "tues night special" request from some Chloe in the audience. Love Rescue Me was ok, but when they could do stuff like God Pt 2 or Hawkmoon it wasn't that great - would have preferred to hear Bad from yesterday but am happy I got to hear UV (laser suit for FTW)
  6. so where's the bootleg of this show? can't believe it's not offered yet. waited long enough. and please upload to several different download servers, rapidshare is a pain. oh, and only 5star quality, please. thank you.

  7. Claw, screen and lightshow were incredible, why do they have three camera guys winched up in each leg?

The only problem was the sound quality which was pretty terrible (and we were just below one of the upper speaker belts) it sounded like a 96 Kbps MP3 played at max volume on a shitty stereo - distorting and clipping badly - I got far better sound (you could actually make out the guitar line and vocals) by pinching my ears closed but you look silly doing that in the pit - perhaps good quality foam earplugs?

I'm not sure if I wanted to be outside the pit to get better sound - it seemed much more crowded and I'm not sure how much better the sound would be right next to the walkwaly railing (further back and you loose the connection to the band)
  8. just saw this, don't know if it's been mentioned before. First recording of night 1 available on u2torrents
  9. And I think they should have a basic u2 quiz for anyone wanting to go into the pit - there was 1 big guy in front of me, who not only partially blocked my view in some of the later songs but just stood there whole concert not singing, or waving hands or anything. But most of the others in the pit were pretty lively - I don't know how good the crowd singalong was because everything was drowned in a wall of sound.

I was singing and screaming along to mostly everything( and doing high pitched wooohs every time Bono said something or a song ended) so much so that my voice still seems oddly deep (and my hearing is still muffled)

All in all it was definitely worththe $100 and a couple of hours wait. Going to bed now have work tmrw

I was in the red zone and the sound was pretty good there if I was being picky it didn't seem as loud as night 1. The guys winched on the leg operate the lights.

I see your point. I'm tall myself, so while I usually have a clear view on the stage and all, I guess people behind me are a bit frustrated that I block their view but at least I'm singing and bouncing along as soon as the band gets on stage but in Brussels I, I had the only guy who was taller than me standing right in front of me... and he wasn't moving or showing any reaction for 3 hours. I was tempted to knock on his shoulder just to check he was still alive at all sometimes you wonder why exactly these folks go to see a rock show
  12. Ever had the idea that these people might tape...?
Besides, it's ridiculous to judge other people's behavior at a concert. Since when do you have to jump, sing and clap to enjoy a gig?

Good choice to get rid of Still haven't found. All I want is you is a nice replacement. Love rescue me seems interesting.
