  1. Hi everyone.

    I was so impressed with the Point Depot mix by Dafy that was posted a few weeks ago that I thought I would try doing a few myself. I downloaded a free trial of Nero Soundtrax, which wasn't too bad (I made a few mixes that I can't share here - used DVD rips - sorry) but the trial version has expired. Call me cheap if you wish, but I'd rather try out one of the many free versions out there than drop $80 for a poorly reviewed package. Any recommendations? I really liked how you could overlap the end/start of two songs in Soundtrax yet could still separate them once you made your CD.

  2. I´ve always used (ad always will) Nero SoundTrax, itś so intuitive and yet full of quality functions. Notjing beats it in my opinion.

    You just need a way to have it full without paying 80$........ (;))

    ive never had any luck aquiring software this way

  7. Exactly right. I haven't really had any apps I've wanted to buy for years now except Adobe Audition or Sonar Studio and yet I'm not sure if even they're any good. Open-source and free software works just as well for me with plug-ins.

    I'd go with GoldWave or Audacity for basic mixing stuff. For the real pro you probably need to go the higher-end of the market, but the free ones do most stuff pretty well with developers cutting new stuff all the time and coming up with things that sometimes even the higher-end of the market hasn't even gotten around to yet.

    Foobar's a great example of that as is Paint.net.

I was wondering if some one could jet give me a QUICK recommendation/tutorial on how to overlap the start end of two tracks using either Audacity or Goldwave and then split them into two separate. For instance, I want to have the version of "Staring At The Sun" from my Slane 2001 DVD rip seamlessly" merge into the rendition "Stay" from my Boston DVD rip. Trust me, I'm not being lazy here - I've tried to do this on my own using trial and error as well as read the Help menues with very little success.

    My poor kids are being ignored!

    I reallly should just by the Soundtrax, shouldn't I?
