1. Is it known whether he used it for recording Discotheque or is it just a show off guitar

  2. Just a gimmick, to look cool. I'm pretty sure discotheque was either recorded on the Gretsch Country Gent or the Jaguar/fernandes decade elite. Maybe even a strat for the quieter parts, I don't htink it's really known. But it definitely wasn't that les paul.

As with most songs, there are often more than one guitar on the tune. As for the main riff, I read in an interview that "Discotheque" was an acoustic through pedals and amps.

Live during the Popmart tour, it was one of two Fernandes Decade Elite w/sustainer pickups. (One burnt orange and another custom sea foam green).

During the Elevation tour, Edge used the Les Paul at lease some of the time.

And used a Stratocaster on some shows... Antwerp, for example:

. They did play "Discotheque" two times during the 'Vertigo'. Of the footage I've seen, he used the Lake Placid Blue Telecaster.

(Check the video below at about 1:30 in)

  4. God how I wish they'd pull out a Pop tune this tour. It would work so well with the stage. They should ditch crappy ass Crazy Tonight remix and instead rotate between Disco, Mofo, and Last Night On Earth every night. GOD that would be amazing.
  5. One for the bass players...

...A more affordable Warwick Reverso? Yep.

I just heard back from Florin at Warwick. I'd seen a copy of the new catalog and aske a few questions and here was his response:

"Those are the new Korean "Artist Series". They are Bolt On not NT, and they will have a nice price"

So it looks like one will be able to get a gold Reverso that is close to being like Adam's for a price that is not as steep as the Made In Germany 'real' version. (Still awaiting notice of the exact price of the Korean made)

I know it´s kind of off topic but it would so work as the encore opener.... imagine only bono singing without lights on with his suit and the stage lights up with the riff... wow!

Yeah they should try rotating in Discotheque where HMTMKMKM and Ultraviolet are. In fact, I'd say tkae those two out (they've been played enough now, especially UV) and throw in Discotheque and another ringer, like maybe bring Bullet and RTST back? (rotating, not painflly every show like before) or maybe even something like Dirty Day?

A year ago these requests would seem way too imaginary and out there, but looking at the last two legs, and the surprises U2 has been pulling out, are they?
  8. No disrespect meant but aren't we getting a bit off topic here?

  9. Totally.

I just came back from my granpa's, I've had lots of fun with the wonderful Les Paul Artisan that my granfather owns. His vintage wah pedal helped too
  10. I uploaded a scan I did of the Pop booklet from the infamous mirror Les Paul It's 1800x1800 pixels and pretty well defined, so enjoy!

  11. The description seems a bit off. He doesn't have it any longer. And that he auctioned it off in 1999.

  12. For sure? Ok, then I'll change the descritpion when I get home. Any more info that I could add?
