U2start.com | Song Suggestion?

Hey guys,

I am currently doing my internship at a high school right now and one of the courses I am teaching is Social Justice. The unit I will be in charge of is entitled "Peace And Security". My teacher knows how much I like U2 so she suggested I pick one of their songs dealing with the themes of peace and security and put the lyrics in the students' workbooks and have a journal entry/discussion about it. I'm trying to think of what options I can choose that have lyrics dealing with this subject matter. So far I have:

Sunday Bloody Sunday
Love And Peace Or Else
Peace On Earth
Please (?)
Bullet The Blue Sky

Just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions and which song they think I should choose.

War is undoubtful a good way to start .. Sunday of course, but New year's day, Seconds and also The refugee are pretty good for the purpose i think.

Please is fantastic if you understand it, but it has to be dug into a little deeper- knowing that Bono is writing about someone who thinks they're bigger than God.

I would say Sunday Bloody Sunday fits the best. Sounds like a great opportunity to spread some U2!

If I go with Sunday Bloody Sunday what video should I show them? (I'm going to nix the idea of the Rattle & Hum version since it's high school and we can't swear.

Hard to say, they all take on a different purpose it seems, each time. Honestly, I'd say Red Rocks.

Didn't think of that. Could mean much more to them, being from 2010. And the version on the Rose Bowl DVD is really not bad.

A bunch of your average high school kids are gonna see an "old" band in 1983 and just go "pssshh", whereas with 2010's rock spectacle of an amazing stage, they might actually be very intrigued.

360 Sunday is much more visual impressive for sure but on the other way the special effects could distract the boys from its meaning. moreover it has much less energy and rage.
Red Rocks is very very good for my last statement and with a simple symbol, the white flag, that carries lots of meaning.
it might be useful watching a boy close to their age full of pain and rage singing/crying "we're so sick of it"/"no more"
from the 360 may the boys understand that it's just a song for Iran? while it has much wider meaning.
as i said very hard choosing the song and the version of the song

I never thought of it that way in terms of the band being not much older than these students. That could be cool. I'll have to make a decision soon!

But are we in agreeance that Sunday Bloody Sunday is the best one to pick?
