Ever since the 'Duals' debacle. Us over at atu2.com we created a petition to get U2.com to change for the better. We as U2 fans deserve better for the outragious amount of money we spend to give the boys "A Great Life".
yeah the $$ that sites like U2 and Petty ask you to pay (PER YEAR!?!) is crazy. Anything over $10 a year or even a one time fee of $40 for a lifetime scrip is just not worth it, actually its a rip off. Bands do not make deluxe packages of cd's to give more to the fans they make them to take more from the fans = the mark up on those has gone out of control - the websites are no different. Thankfully i have not had to renew U2 scrip for 2 years because of the delayed shows last summer, but inevitably i will renew when it comes time for me to get tix to new U2 concerts. Willies diary is the best part of that site, please keep it up. And you are welcome, U2, for the great life i have helped you afford. Sometimes i am sickened by the constant asking and asking and asking and asking and asking, by bono, and by the way my favorite "did you know" quote that recycles at the bottom of this site page is "U2 is the richest band in the world", ridiculous.
I think that's a good idea in theory, but I'm not comfortable signing myself as one of "The Fans" as signed at the bottom with the way it's written.
I could see petitioning if no website, official or fan-made, offered anything from the band - no live streams, bootlegs, etc. anywhere. But since other fan websites already have far better content and things to offer, I'll just stay here instead. U2.com will catch up eventually, hopefully.
