when i said there was hardly any preaching in the 90's i meant he didn't talk about some issue like africa and poverty every night for minutes on end at every gig and it was better that way.

anyway this is just my opinion - i preferred everything about U2 in the 90's - this is just another thing!

Okay, when you put it like that, then I'd have to agree. But from what I've heard/seen so far, it's never been annoying for me. I also agree that in a live situation on stage, the way things were brought forward during ZOO TV and Popmart, were definitely was more subtle and maybe that is the way it should be.
But somehow for me, it's okay what he has been doing so far: I can take a lot of crap so to speak, when it's coming from him....

  2. around the 6:37 mark... Looks like Bono finally is completely out of touch with reality - or he just completely dislikes the Vertigo tour...

  3. Larry was holding up his cue cards and he made a few edits

  4. ha!

Made me grateful for those Vertigo moments where Larry just went into 'One' before the backing track.
  5. I have no problem with Bono's speeches while I'm at the show. Not to sound too weird, but I found myself leaving the Vertigo show that I attended feeling quite... uplifted. However, when I want to listen to an "old" Vertigo show, I cringe (and skip) when Bono starts bantering. Thank goodness for editing software that allows me to remove this stuff from my playlists.
  6. I think we all agree that its a good thing that Bono stopped giving speeches during the show about Africa and people who are in need, I dont mind that he does a lot of thing for people who are in need but when you are at a concert I dont need to hear about things like that.
Im happy that he now gives funny speeches before ISHFWILF, I think people dont mind hearing that.

I also think that a lot of people started to hate Bono and U2 because of the speeching and Bonos work for charity.

    About time.
  8. This is a hard one for me as ive grown up with U2 ,, i think up until 2001 there wernt a lot off people who hated bono as he and U2 were the coolest band to like ,defently from 91 to 98 anyway they were the most fun rock band ( TFI Friday done a complete show from las vagas on the popmart tour ) and that was the best show on british tv at the time. I think what with the radio friendly albums over the past 10 years and bono's work in africa and the kids off today wanting more off the old style bono who just went out and rocked the s"!t out off ya i think kids today( 12/19) feel cheated that they never got to see U2 at full throttle. And it doesnt help when people like me who have been to JH tour ,Zooropa 93 and popmart tour tell there storys off the best night out ( they can only wacth the dvd's ) b4 U2 got soft ....Man ive had a few guinness ( paddys day 2morrow ) What im trying to say is even though they have had some great tracks over 10 years everyone knows that U2 and Bono were better than what we have now.

You got a point there, but on the otherside I sometimes think how it would be back then with U2 but then I realise that I wouldnt even know because I think I wouldnt hear them a lot because then there wasnt internet so I would know what they play and how it sounds.

I could be completely wrong but I just cant imagine a worl without internet anymore :p
  10. It was different back then before the internet,, everyone got the record at the same time ,no leaks like today. But sometimes it felt lonely not like today where i get to talk to U2 fans from across the world every day from this GREAT site which IS the best U2 site on the internet.
  11. I meant the bootlegs we got now, everyone now can hear what they played last night. I think thats the biggest difference between 10-20 years ago and now.
