1. i agree gloria is a solid rock song, uptempo. would open well i feel.
  2. i think 11 oclock tick tock is a great opener
  3. Streets
  4. ASOH
  5. Stingray Guitar - it's said to be from the UF sessions anyway.

  6. +1
    really i don't know what's wrong with 11 o'clock as opener
thinking of another one i don't find a proper one in Unforgettable fire .. not Wire and absolutely not Bad .. 4th of july is one of the greatest intro ever anyway.
naming others i'd say Gloria or I will follow better

  7. Not that good of an opener anyway...

I think Wire and ASOH are/were the only actual options from the album they were supporting... But 11 O Clock wasn't that bad, was it? From the oldies, I never liked Gloria as opener - I always prefered Out Of Control or 11 O Clock.
  8. I've just started listening to the Lyon gig mentioned above and MLK into UF does work. They started with MLK during the Conspiracy of Hope Tour too I think.

If I were to choose from any UF song to open it would be ASOH. Otherwise I would open with The Cry / Electric Co (in fact I would open any show with that!)

MLK does not at all work as an opener. Bono shouts "Alright!" and then it goes into an organ. If I were in that crowd, I would expect them to rip into Gloria or even 11 O' Clock Tick Tock, something with energy and intensity. It sounded as if they were returning for an encore when starting with MLK on that Lyon bootleg.
  10. I saw the band 5 times on the UF Tour (showing my age I know).4 of my gigs the opened with 11 o'clock. The show that still stands out the most to me,04.14.85.They opened with,Gloria,I threw a Brick,A Day Without Me,MLK,UF.I thought that was an amazing start to the show. They jumped from theater's,to arena's ,in a few short months. Each show had so much emotion.
The first show I attended,04.01.85, at MSG, was also amazing.Bad was THE SONG at the shows. The band would just jam out to the song, sometimes lasting 20 min.I long for those days....
