1. Hi everyone.

Turns out that i'm looking to buy a new mp3 player. At the beginning i was quite excited about this ipod music device (i'm new at this thing, i've never had one, not even the vertigo one) but checking the reviews i see that people tend to not recommend this for us, the audiophiles. So i went to some friend who got one of these, to see if the sound was so bad as supposed and i can see clearly why some people don't like Apple at all. The sound quality is incredibly bad (at least for me, i'm very sensitive about sound quality) and just don't get why all the hype at the apple products. Ipod at least. So expensive, so much hype just for what? A pretty little device that can do everything except for the original and most important reason: to listen music.

I'm only interested in sound quality, so other extras (such as the truck-load of apps for the iPod Touch) are totally wasted on me.

So, i'm looking at the alternatives to apple. Any suggest would help.

    Thanks in advance!
  2. Sansa Clip. Pick your memory, expand it with an SD card, drag and drop and plays plenty of formats (flac etc)
  3. Sound quality kinda depends on how compressed the audio on your iPod is, and the headphones... just sayin. I don't think my iPod sucks

Really? And how you manage to have better quality in sound? Maybe the thing with the ipod is that the audio gets worse with the passing of time?

Thanks for the advices. Now i'm checking cowon and it seems that the sound is quite good.

There's zune and IRiver as wel, i didn't knew them.

  5. Agreed - got the 8GB version, cracking little jobby, not a bad mic. either to record stuff.
  6. (double-post = fail. Distinct lack of bi-winning going on.)
  7. So good you told us twice Harry, lol...

Sound with lossless files and headphones on an iPod is top notch. Sound with <128kbps MP3 and Apples own ear buds = shit. Go figure.

Dammit, first double-post in ages - blaming this stupid mouse-pad + browser + everything that definitely isn't my fault but technology being an arse...grr.
  9. Did ur friend have good headphones or just the standard apple ones? I noticed a massive difference when i upgraded my headphones from the apples
  10. Try with Creative Zen.

It's true that iPod doesn't have the greatest sound quality in the universe, but try with quality headphones and I believe that should do it.
