Before my Mom and I went to see them in Toronto in 2009, we made a list of the songs she would like to hear in concert. For Mother's Day that year I burned her a CD of those songs as part of her gift. (She was a big fan but knew really only the mainstream songs/singles, she never really bought CDs very often... guess it had something to do with funding two children! haha) So after that I began making her more CDs and throwing in other singles and songs I thought she would like. Fast forward to now and we nearly have their whole catalog burned off for her.
My younger cousin started to like U2 as well and I wanted to introduce her them. I was going to give her the two Best Ofs and U218 but I felt there were some great tracks/singles missing (especially from The Best Of 90-2000) and I wanted her to hear the stuff from No Line so I made 3 CDs: "U2 In The 80s", "U2 In The 90s", and "U2 In The New Millennium"

I've tried to make a "Best of..." compilation for U2 in the past - one CD, two CD's, even three CD's! - and always feel something is missing. For this reason, I try to avoid making them because it's a never-ending cycle.
Give your friend the albums.
