It should be something from Achtung Baby - is "Until The End of The World" populatr enough? I've always thought that it would be a great opening - especially with the horn/siren sound (what is that, anyway?) that starts the song.

It's a superly-dooperly-messed-around-with bit of guitar work from Edge. Kinda the same as he did for the high shizzle going on in Gone.
  2. Anyone else think Desire could be a great opener? Kinda like when they came back from encores during Zoo TV and opened the encore up with it?
  3. u2 wil be amazing whatever they play..its just what they do :-) ..just wish i could be there to experience it

I absolutely love the ZooTV versions of "Desire" and think it would be a pretty good opener. Seems the've pretty much turned it into an acoustic jam tune over the past decade so, very unfortuately, I doubt will see the Mirrorball Man/Macphito version at Glastonbury. I hope I am wrong.
  5. Nah, they should open with I Will Follow, followed by Out of Control, that should get the crowd going
And imo, they should save Streets for somewhere in the middle so the crowd has something to look forward to

Good choice for an opener. Maybe they could do some sort or chronological setlist. This way they can still close with "Moment of Surrender" - and all the non-U2 fans can leave the point when (or at what point in the band's career for the younger generation) they lost interest in the band's music.
  7. I really hope they don't play Moment of Surrender. Glastonbury calls for a big finish, the crowd will feed off the energy of an uptempo closer. When they finished a Dublin Vertigo Tour show with Vertigo, it was a brilliant closer. I'm not saying they should finish with Vertigo, just something not as dull as MoS.
  8. I agree. I dont think MOS is a good closer for the Glasto landmark show......but sadly they, specially Bono, likes it too much to prescind of it.
  9. I was sort of kidding about MoS. I think it would be a big mistake for them to close with that one or any other "slow" song - except "40."
  10. I'd love to see All I Want Is You or a rocky song like Out Of Control in the last spot

  11. Ah, yes. "All I Want Is You" might work nicely as a closer.

Slow or upbeat, I think it should be best they end with a BIG hit song.
  12. i'd like to see them do a ZOOTV ending - so basically a 360 ending but with a super powerful version of love is blindness instead of MOS. (and just for old times sake they could throw in a can't help falling in love too if they like )

out of any gig, by any band i've ever seen, i've NEVER thought a gig ending worked better than that ZOOTV ending of ultraviolet/lemon, WOWY and LIB... it's too easy to end on a high by playing an upbeat song (or by playing the same song twice ala the vertigo travesty ) but that ZOOTV ending leaves you with a much deeper and rarer feeling and the fact that i've never gotten that from any other band tells me it must be something pretty special.?

i also found ending with one ala popmart very powerful and moving too but for some reason despite the fact it's prob my favourite song from NLOTH i don't really get that feeling from the MOS ending.... so i agree with the fact they shouldn't end on that
