1. He indeed is after he left Arsenal. If Schalke doesn't surprise us tomorrow, I hope that ManU Will get the title. The behaviour of some Barca and Real players was just disgusting. What à bunch of crybabies...

you can dream so dream out loud..... a 4:1 will do for Schalke tonight

  3. That would be brilliant, because Schalke is one of my favourite teams. I once attended a match in the Arena Auf Schalke, against Eintracht Frankfurt. It was an experience I'll never forget. What a fantastic crowd and atmosphere. I remember drinking a beer in a typical Schalke cafe in Gelsenkirchen before the match. People were so friendly and hostile to newcomers. Some fans asked me why I came all the way from Holland to see this match, they were really interested. Although the match itself wasn't that good(1-0), it was like à huge blue party.

The club fully deserves à place in the final, but chances aren't too big sadly enough. But we can hope! Hopp Blau Und Weiss!

  4. Question - why are the team called Schalke? i.e. where does the name come from?

  5. From wikipedia :

Fußball-Club Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04, commonly known as simply FC Schalke 04 or Schalke is a German association football club originally from the Schalke district of Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Schalke has long been one of the most popular football teams in Germany, even though major successes have been rare since the club's heyday in the 1930s and early 1940s.
  6. nice to hear you had a good time Auf Schalke, Rob always great to welcome people to "our" Arena. yeah, basically you can have a really good time for a football game there, the atmosphere is a rare one. loud and emotional. that's among the things I love most when my team plays and people in general, the majority, are friendly and open-hearted in our area, something I'm pleased to say there might be an idiot or two around here as well, but where are they not...

truth be told, the truly great games of Schalke are a rare thing, but you get them every once in a while (read: vs Inter). Not on a regular base though, which makes a fan's life not the easiest but the guys are trying

as far as the name Schalke is concerned, the wikipedia is right about this. Schalke is a district of the city Gelsenkirchen. The U2 fans among us (:V ) may recall that in 2005 Bono was wearing a tshirt with "Schalke" on it while they officially played the town of Gelsenkirchen. Like in 2009. So..... it's the town of Gelsenkirchen, but the football team is named after the district it's located and founded in, Gelsenkirchen-Schalke

That was the pub I was in tonight, the atmosphere was electric. This is what football is all about. Cheers for the wellwishes. I would comment on El Clasico but, for tonight, I can't think of anything else.

    WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!

wow, one hell of a happy moment
congrats, Harry!!! I even read about this in our German newspaper today

5 minutes left until ManU vs Schalke now..... let's hope we'll say good-bye decently

  9. Go Schalke!!! That's because of you Kirsten, last year, I would have said go United... but not anymore! You've turned me a into a bit of a Schalke fan
  10. Even the big goalie can't keep up. This could end up a slaughtering.
