Axl Rose had mad things for his voice didn't he Drew? He coated it in honey I heard, and only some particular brand or kind of honey.

I actually kinda liked it. But you sounded kinda like a Bruce Springsteen x5 Sounded pretty broken. But I still liked it

Awww thanks!!! You know it was funny, I was just listening to some Bruce here and thought ''Shit, it kinda has that same vibe''. Not the same style - I could never sing like he does - but the same sort of style and technique. Early 90s style I'm thinking.

Axl's rider has this - and mentions honey:

Salt and pepper mills, olive oil, Balsamico vinegar, soy sauce, two bear-shaped tubes of honey, exact brands of white, red wine and vodka, Patron Anejo tequila and Jose Cuervo mixed cocktail drink. Lucky Budha beer and as many bottles of Grolsch and Checkvar beers.

Red Bull, Coca-Cola, 7 Up, a carton of orange juice, Pellegrino mineral water and Smart Water. Bananas, apples, strawberries, raspberries, water melons, mangos and grapefruits, carrot, celery, cucumbers, various kinds of crackers, seven kinds of cheese, strawberry jam, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, white bread, roast chicken, two portions of medium rare filet mignon, Cesar salad, four cheeseburgers and a spinach salad.

But ya know, from learning technique it's pretty much possible to sound like that without being broken. By putting the "false vocal cords" into play, something similar to the normal cords but only capable of producing that grittier sound. And then you can have that as an "effect" on your normal singing. Or something like that... I want to learn that.

Whoah, some of those things aren't too good for the voice from what I've learned. But honey is pretty good.

I can do the grittier sound but it's hard and takes a real toll on your chords. Opening from a deeper note then going to a fuller sound? That rider too, some of that is for the band, not just Axl. I remember the best one I ever saw which was Van Halen's rider - no brown M&Ms I think was the colour. Just randomly odd.

Yeah, but most of us do a grittier sound with our real vocal chords instead of those other chords. Don't know how you do it, but if you get a sore throat from it it's probably the real ones.
