    I agree on the show///concert thing, but not on the Rock vs. PopRock. I think they're both Poprock bands, I'd even call Snow Patrol more "pop" than U2. They're closer to the famous britpop formula, while U2 are (or "were", putting it right) more like a general rock band... I think SP are a bit more "pop", most of their hits are easy pop-rock songs (Run, Chasing Cars, Crack The Shutters, etc) - all of them awesome - but all of them "pop-rock". On the other hand, latest U2 hits are more "rocker" (not "better" at all, but have a stronger rock feeling) methinks.

  4. I'd say those figures were about correct. Living in the UK and all Snow Patrol this decade have had consistently bigger hits and stronger selling albums. A U2 album comes out, it sells a shit load then tails off. Snow Patrol sells at a slower rate but sells longer.

    Their opening set in Barcelona was more memorable for me than any of the 5 U2 gigs I saw. They blew me away. They put more emotion in and enjoyed it a lot more and were a hell of a lot more likeable than U2. . . and all of this to a sparse crowd in Europe's biggest stadium. They are like this every single night were as U2 seem to steady out and get into their 'job' role after a few nights on tour.

    That's the difference for me.

    I blame the scale of the claw and how little room for error there is for them (not just in lighting and stuff but what THEY will think of (it if a song is not well received) But yeah i totally see what you mean about them getting into there job role

  12. myself and jonny - today - azteca stadium - mexico city

    the shows start tomorrow but we went in today as U2 very kindly set aside a room backstage for us to rehearse all day. it’s just as well as we haven’t played the old songs in about a year. sounded good though. we’ve only played once before in mexico and that was to a lot less people than 100,000. 98,000 less to be exact. we’re all so excited it’s rather sweet. we were sitting at the bar an hour ago and the table was vibrating we were all buzzing so much. nice to be reminded our passion hasn’t diminished not one jot after all these years.

    the reason i seem to be scowling in the picture is that it was 80 degrees today and the sun, at this juncture, was lazered right into my eye-holes. jonny played it right with the shades.

    more pictures to come but this is what it all looks like the day before: empty yet humming with promise.

    so, once more dear friends onto the U2 spaceship to rejoin the greatest tour there ever was. colour me tickled pink!
