1. what about the "new" songs ? Only North Star SOMETIMES see the daylight
  2. I think they've shelved songs like "Mercy" and "North Star." They need to get a studio recordings of them and get them on the radio for them to have a better "overall" effect during a show. Crowds like to hear songs they know. We are the few diehards.
  3. Off the new songs only Every Breaking Wave, Mercy or BFFTS would get me excited
  4. going down to the azteca soon to hopefully scalp tix. wish me luck!
  5. Hours after, emotions and feelings are still very vivid. Amazing to watch them coming out and start the intro for Even Better with those drum beats which were felt like an enormous King Kong was entering the house. Next, Out of Control, and I almost went nuts. Song for real fans, because many people didn't even know that one was the first single. Set lists goes as usual an then, at the acoustic section, everyone was expecting Stuck in a moment, and kaplam!!!! Stay comes out of the blue...amazing!! Acoustic set finishes and then, Bono brings a girl on stage to read from a piece of paper. I thought it would be a poem like he did on wednesday...almost had a heart attack when recognized the lyrics for Beautiful Day in Spanish. By the time the girl read "es un día hermoso", the place was falling apart just out of pure emotion. That's when I burst into tears (yeah, I admit it, I'm a sensitive guy). Next, Zooropa, song for real fans because some people stayed in their seats with a ¿? face. There were many greatest hits-fans for whom Elevation and Vertigo are their hymns, and Zooropa or Stay don't mean a lot, but those cuts are like milk and honey for harder fans like us. Streets comes out and it was a point in which greatest-hits fans and fans-from-hell united to form a unique collective jumping-cheering being. Next, the encore (I've never liked Hold me); my prayers were listened, because Ultraviolet appeared just like the 2009 shows, and words can't describe what I felt.

It's a shame shows like last night aren't immortalized as an official DVD instead of decaf nights like Pasadena.

Final line: Great, great U2, thanks forever.
  6. Ahhhhhhhh! I wish I could go up to see them in North America when they come back...these setlists are the best they've done all tour, I think (with the exception of playing Mercy a couple of times...utter brilliance). I would love, love, love to see Unknown Caller make a comeback, though...that and The Unforgettable Fire are the two songs that I miss the most from the recent shows by far. Hopefully they'll bring it back soon-ish, given the rehearsal.

(Also, from the videos posted from South America and Mexico, I completely agree that they should either make another DVD or just do the videos there/in Europe in the future...Pasadena was polished, but these shows are fricking brilliance. Why I love U2.)

PS- I'm loving the U2 part of the Magnificent remix. It's still got all the lyric there, which I love, but it brings out a little bit more of the instrumentation of the song, which I like even more than the lyric. A song they should keep around in some form for a very, very long time. I still remember being ecstatic when I saw that Magnificent opened the show in NYC. (Not really a fan of the Desmond Tutu interlude, though...)

And a final side note- I'm over in Berlin right now. If anyone's from here, just know that this is the first time I've been off the continent of North America...and I absolutely love your city.
  7. Forgot to say: Hats off to Snow Patrol!!! What an incredible band they are. Quoting Bono, son una banda muy chingona!!!. Didn't know anything about them, and their performance was a great great great surprise. I think I'll keep following them from now on

Absolutely. Wish I could see what they were up to now. Their performance in Chicago was great.

Those 2 were perfectly described !
I actually had goosebumps while reading that
  10. I hope they don't the luke-warm reaction from casual fans to Zooropa tracks inhibit them from playing them for the rest of the tour. I would really love to hear "Zooropa" (and "Lemon" - maybe ... just maybe....) in Toronto.

  11. Aha, U2gigs reports there will be 2 surprises tonight !
    Let's start the guessing...
I'm thinking of Bad/All I Want Is You and an act with some Mexican artist.
