1. Hello, I'm Josh, some you of might know and I was wandeirng if anyone else likes Rap or Hip-Hop in the U2 fan community.

I think its probably rare to like this genre as much as rock for us. I prefer rock but...

For me I like artsist such as: Kanye West, Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G, Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Snoop Doggy Dogg, The Game, 50 Cent, Rick Ross & Eazy-E.

Let me know if you feel the same or hate this music. I would be very interested.

    Thanks
  2. rap music is a mixed bag, for me. there's some genuinely great rap artists but also some awfully moronic "smack dat hoe" types - who i wouldn't mind so much, but they can't even rap, they just shout and make a racket - that i can take or leave.

Eminem, Snoop Dogg, The Streets, Mos Def and Dr. Dre are all immense though. old school rap like Public Enemy, N.W.A. and Grandmaster Melle Mel is pretty sick too.

so yeah, rap can be brilliant. i could never pigeonhole myself to liking one genre of music (be it rock, metal, rap, jazz etc) because i feel that people who do are missing out on so much!
  3. Eminem is the only rap artist I've ever been into, and I admit I kinda liked it. But as a whole, rap is not entirely my cup of tea. I prefer music to which I can play guitar

  4. +1

Rap can be good, but I think a lot of it is shit. Some rap is good as a kind of background noise in a room though.

The rap song in this video is great though, really fits:

  5. No,not my Musik.
  6. my feelings about music make me drag far away from this kind of "music"
not a hater at all if it stays away from U2 .. the Sunday's sacrilege is enough
    danger friendships in Bono's life
  7. Interesting to see what people think. And yeah I forgot The Streets, very good .

I used to think that rap was terrible and just people talking and think they're hard but I just love this flow of this music. I think there's a lot of skill involved with it.
  8. Definitely have a love for old school rap i.e. Beastie Boys, Run DMC, A Tribe Called Quest

  9. been listening to a lot of Eminem over the past few days. Encore and Relapse get a lot of stick for being subpar quality, but i think they're really underrated, especially Relapse, some of the lyrics on there are genius.
  10. I would say that "It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back" by Public Enemy ought to be in everyone's music collection. Also, Ice Cube's "The Predator" and Hiphoprisy's "Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury" are well worth listening to. For a Muslim slant on Rap, "Seize The Time" by Fun-Da-Mental is exceptional.
  11. You cant spell crap without rap.
