1. Ok, you win. But it has democracy in its system.

Let's call it a system where the people have the power then. And vote to choose which opinion they like the best.
  2. I've searched up and down the forum but it seems we don't have a dedicated ONE Campaign thread. Oh anyway, this can go in the Politics topic as well.

    Last mail, I just received:
    Dear ONE Member,

I have an amazing campaign success to share. ONE members have helped to ensure the lives of 4 million children will be saved, and the lives of 250 million more will be transformed.

I was at an historic conference in London on Monday where world leaders and private institutions promised a remarkable $4.3 billion to fund vaccines over the next 5 years. This is well over the target of $3.7 billion. It means vaccines for many deadly and debilitating diseases can now be made available in the poorest countries, including new vaccines for diarrhoea and pneumonia—which account for a third of all child deaths around the world.

I’m really proud to say that the voice of over 300,000 ONE members was carried to governments around the world, and it made an incredible difference!

Pressure from ONE members helped to ensure that the UK, USA, France, Germany, Australia, the EU and others all significantly increased their pledges, and persuaded countries like Brazil to pledge for the first time.

This is a giant step forward for mothers and children around the world in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease. We will continue to work hard to ensure that the promises made on Monday are kept and the vaccines are delivered.

Please read our blog with a message from ONE's Executive Director Jamie Drummond and leave a comment on what this means to you.

With astonishing campaign successes like this, I’m proud to be part of ONE and the growing community of ONE members around the world.

    Thank you.

  3. And in popular language, the US is a democracy. In bureaucrat language, it is not. But we don't care a lot about the language we use do we?

    That reminds me of:

By the way, the United States ARE in fact a democracy. It's not a simple representative democracy, I'll give you that: it's but a constitutional republic. But as a whole, the system is Democracy (as oposed to Dictatorship, Theocracy, Anarchism, etc) -based.
