1. The site is down for me since the whole day. This happens very often during the last weeks. It's on me or u2torrents?
  2. Happens for me as well. Must be a really bad server or something.

  3. Think I heard it's been fecked for the last while now, not 100% though. Doesn't work for me anyway too
  4. It's a strategy, they pretend that they have "a lot of users" (which they don't, their users are all at U2start now ) by turning their servers down...

Just kidding. It's a shame, yup. The site hasn't work properly since they banned me updated to U2T 2.0 or whatever it was called.

HaHaHa, That's it, your SO funny.

Really, your wearing the banned me line out. Did we ban you in the past or are you wanting to be banned? Just wondering. We've never attempted to ban members from this site or any other U2 site because they shared memberships on both or more.

The site issues are unrelated to number of users, (I guess that's meant as a jab) for the first 3-4 years we pruned users after 6 months of inactivity. So I'm sure if we hadn't done that we could be at a more lofty membership level like U2start. I really couldn't care less what the membership number is, and I'm not impressed with it. I'm happier having a smaller more engaged membership than having 1 ka-billion members and only have a fraction engaged.

That's it for this time, I need to go back and start "turning their servers down" and continue our grand plan for world domination. lol

    Hello

Yes, the whole first part of my post was basically a joke, a jab... Glad you took it like that. I know you don't give a damn about membership figures, I really don't do it either. But it's a matter of taste and facility: we at U2start sincerely prefer to offer every U2 content as easy as possible for the non-technology proficient people (which are the biggest part of our membership), you at U2T are more restictive and limited. I am not a computer knoob by any means, but when I joined U2T I had a tough time figuring how it all worked (besides of your very improvable layout, but that's another question). On the other hand, coming to U2start is much more pleasant, all shows are ordered and can be browsed and downloaded even by a 12 years old boy or a 58 years old man.

    But now seriously:
    1) you block and censure several ways of writing "u2start" in your forums... that's sincerely awesome.
    2) I was suddenly banned after a big discussion some moths ago.
    3) I have a screenshot of the message I get when I try to log into your website: http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/5938/u2treal.jpg
    4) My ratio was around the 0.5 mark when I was banned; if I remember right, your rules apply to ratios <0.25, don't they?

All these factors lead me to think that you banned me just for the plain and simple reason that I belong to U2start's crew.

I don't give a damn, really. I don't need U2torrents. I get all the U2 material from U2start. The last time I needed U2T (I wanted to download the Zurich 2010 DVD, and I obviously coulnd't), a friend of mine in U2start downloaded it for me and sent it directly to my address -together with 10 more DVD's... I don't need you. You can go back to your world-domination plans, I now have to go out to university
  7. 1.-4.: Fail.
  8. feel free to do so.

I admit it, I never kept my ratios too high, but... Oh anyway. There you are. Feel free to comment it on the Zurich thread if you please, I don't care.

Originally posted by yeahYour ratio is 0.45. That isn't a reason to get banned. Something doesn't rhyme there. Do you share the IP with someone else? Happened to me before.

In any case it has nothing to do with U2start.

Originally posted by LikeASongI didn't remember my ratio, thanks for pointing out. Yep, 0'45 is not below the 0'25 (I think?) neccesary to be banned...

We're all sure it has to do, but then you might know something that we don't. Remy has been banned twice, Chris (Risto) was also banned, or threatened with a ban... Oh, anyway, as I told you before - I don't really care. I can get everything I want from U2start, and if there's the situation (like the Zurich) that I "need" to download from there because it isn't avaiable here, I have plenty of mates here that would do it for me. Kirsten (MacStripey) has already offered herself to burn and send it to me. So no problem

    Thanks for caring anyway.

PS. If you know anything about my ban, or how could I avoid it, or try to lift it, let me know. Thank you.

Which is quite understandable from their point of view and after the behavior of some of the U2start crew over there.
(I'm not taking sides, just trying to explain)

But if they wanted to exclude all crew members, they'd just do. So I don't think the issue is big enough for them to care that much. I don't have a clue about the reason for your ban, though.

I myself have disagreed plenty of times with the U2start policy and behaviour - other times I've been the one who was wrong, or the cause of the conflict. There have been wrong things done and said on the U2T side, you know it as good as I do. It's just that U2start always looks like the poor, little and ugly small brother of the big U2 communities, and they think we don't have the right to fight for their "market" (which is, obviously, the U2 fans on the internet). THe one and only target of this web, ever, was the bring U2 closer to their fans. A lot of our long-time users came just in search of one bootleg in MP3 format, they just wanted to hit-and-go, but they stayed. Why? Because, after all, we're not the big, green troll that you think we are. We're just a couple of friendly guys who wants to make things easier for those who don't know what the hell is a torrent and haven't remotely heard of a FLAC file.

Gotta go now. Although you don't believe it... I have a real life outside U2start!!

Originally posted by yeahHm, why so bitter? As i said, I'm not taking sides. The "older" U2 sites have good arguments, but same goes for U2start. Both sides have done great and not so great things.

For the "veterans", u2start will never get rid of the image you described, though, since the whole concept was and is copying other sites, taking parts of their sections and combining them.
I don't say that's a big thing, that's how innovations are made. But that's where the negative things from the longtime community members come from.

Most people at U2t, U2start, interference and the likes weren't even part of the online U2 world back then when it all started to evolve big time (~year 2000), though so they're rather neutral. Good thing.
And let's face it, 95% of the people don't even care where a boot comes from as long as they get it.

+ other (now pointless) discussion regarding U2start's interests, the evolve of the online U2 world, etc etc.

1 - Isn't it TRUE? I obviously can't check it out since I'm banned, but please someone confirm it or deny it...
2 - Absolutely TRUE. It the discussion had to do with my ban, only Frank and Kev will know, but that's how it happened. The big discussion with Diego/resteveezes regarding the San Sebastian IEM, with further participation of other U2T members, led to my ban.
3 - That is obviosuly TRUE, it's an actual screenshot. You can even check out for yourself.
4 - That is also TRUE, you yourself told me on the PMs which is u2santos' ratio in U2T...

After all that, I did logical connections and thought that my ban had to do with that. Easy.
