If it comes i November then i'll prob ask for it as my B'day present too.

.... now its my parents getting ripped off.
  2. Although I love Achtung Baby Im not going to buy it if it cost a 100 buks, im not crazy. With prices like that you know a lot of people are going to download it.
  3. Petition to acknowledge that we all already knew P.McG loves money and shut the fuck up already

  4. A letter concerning the reissue would be a pre-emptive strike and would be ultimately unproductive. The sensible thing to do is to at least wait to see what formats are on offer and the pricing structure. At least wait to see the content. If the content is of a high enough quality then see if the price is acceptable. I paid about €78 from amazon.de for The Springsteen Darkness deluxe reissue and believe I got value for money. If U2 want to charge big money, then the content should match.

Has anyone read the whole interview these comments came from or is this just a soundbite that looks horrible in isolation? To be fair, context is important.

On their own, McGuinness's comments are at best unhelpful and only serve to fuel the perception people have of The U2 Corporate Juggernaut. It's just another case of 'Foot In Mouth' disease for Paul McGuinness. The comments were unnecessary and insensitive to the fans. I think he should be more lowkey and not have such a prominent public persona. I prefer the Brian Epstein manager model rather than the Allen Klein, Sharon Osbourne type. McGuinness should be in the background not coming out with minor public relations disasters like these Rolling Stone comments.

  5. Do you want certain U2starters to stfu or PMcG - or both?

  6. On reflection and getting over the initial annoyance at reading a PMcG quote again, he does say "you can budget it a very high level and pump up the value" and that "if you pile a lot of extra material...".

As long as they do pile in a lot of [decent quality previously unreleased, etc.] extras and 'pump up the value" in line with the pricing, then fair enough. It's the value that counts, i.e the quality of the content. The value of the item must be proportionate to the price. No point writing a protest letter until you see what's on offer. It's different to the U2.com subscriber situation where practically all of U2DUALS was already owned by any serious U2 fan and the site content offer was poor.
  7. well i'm definitely not going to buy it. i love achtung baby and especially zooropa for the music - not some overpriced fancy packaging bullshit with a wallet raping price tag...

the only thing that would tempt me would be some seriously amazing extras (never heard before demos and unseen footage etc) and even then i would try and download them all long before i considered buying it. if it was any of my other fav bands/artists i wouldn't hesitate to buy the physical product as they need the money but U2 and their manager have had enough money from me over the years and certainly aren't getting anymore for an overpriced box set.
  8. i realised how stunning would be an entire blu ray with high fps, 16,DTS sound of a complete zootv show, including priority Bad, UV and trying to throw your arms. i dont expect another special opening, like massive head or "i have miss you"(something like that).i would like something from 1992 indoor, cuz zootv its just like a theater : an obscure dark room with a big screen and anormous sound.
    oh yeah, everyone can dream.
  9. i want to know what will be in it already

Stockholm 92 pro-shot is where my hopes lie.
