1. got a couple of albums i've been listening to today...

    and also

amazing album from start to finish

  2. Decided that the best album ever needs a listen

  3. Bon Iver
  4. ^ Beautiful cover that one. It's good to see with alternative and rock records the great artwork is coming back.
  5. Finally giving a proper listen to Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark

I'm not a fan of this project, but I tried to give the soundtrack an honest listen anyway. It's not all bad, but wow did they turn the Bono Lyric Generator up to 11 and let it run. It's got Bono's tiny, crepe-soled bootprints all over it. I get the impression in parts of it that Bono's excesses have run wild in a way that Larry never usually allows.

But, having said that, there are some tracks worth a listen on there (IMHO). 'If the world should end' is quite a pretty ballad and worth a listen. 'A Freak Like Me' is a tiny bit meta, but fun; the kind of all-singing, all-dancing big villain number every musical needs.

Rise Above 1 & 2 disappointed me. They were kind of like soy ice-cream to me, technically the sort of thing I should like, but in practice not to my taste at all. Maybe I'd feel differently if Bono was doing them on his own/not with Reeve Carney, but I just don't get any authentic emotion from RC's voice at all.

  6. Melissa Auf Der Maur - Out Of Our Minds
(ex bassist of Hole and Smashing Pumpkins - great artist)

What's the difference between Rise Above 1 and Rise Above 2?
