You should be coming to Moncton with me though dude! It's gonna be one hell of a night. I'm predicting some special songs, and apparently there's to be fireworks there as well. Can't wait.

    Alex

Ha! Ha! Although we've never offcially "met," I would love to join you. Unfortunately, prior commitments and family obligations will keep me from attending the show in Moncton. Such is life.

Enjoy the final show with all you voice and heart.

That's too bad, but as you said, such is life.

Will do! You can live vicariously through me.

  3. Finally home with a chance to post. Last couple days have really been kind of crazy for me. I've missed you all

Was really excited for the gig on Monday. Excited to be on the floor in the GA for the 2nd time in my life, and the second time in Toronto in less than two years. Me and my two friends left home in Buffalo around 9 in the morning Monday and arrived at the Rogers Centre at approximately 10:30. By the time we got there they had already moved the queue to gate 11and capped it off at 350 people. They started another queue on the other side of the building at gate 5 and we ended up over there. I was number 577 in line.

Overall the queue process was pretty organized and enjoyable. Nice day for being outside, warm but thankfully overcast so that we didn't get abused by the sun all day. The staff handed out numbers and eventually wristbands so people were pretty free to come and go as they pleased without incident. I didn't see one problem with the numbering/queue the entire day. They made everyone get rid of their chairs/other crap by about 3:30 and opened the doors at 5.

Getting into the stadium was pretty good too, No horror stories like in Montreal or other places. Once you got in the door they let you run down the stairs and onto the pitch, but once in the inner circle the security didn't allow anyone to run. The three of us got one row off of the back rail a little bit towards Adam's side. I could have had a spot on the rail more towards the middle or the sides but preferred to stick with my friends in a place with a good view. I couldn't believe how many people went in and out of the circle before U2 came on. Most people got back to their spots which was nice. Of course their was the one a-hole and his friend who decided to plant themselves and their wives in our area just before the concert started, made things tight but it loosened up by the time U2 was on.

As far as the music goes, it was a good night. Sound was good from our spot. Interpol was atrocious. I didn't have very high expectations and they fell short of even those. Luckily everyone in our area was busy yelling at the people who budged in late so there was something interesting going on while they were on stage

U2 were awesome as usual. Was a little disappointed they played the same set as East Lansing, but the concerts had such a different feel to them (college campus in the US vs. Biggest city in Canada) that it almost didn't feel like the same set. Honestly though can't be too upset about the "standard" set at this point. The opening through Still Haven't Found rocks to hard it's unbelievable. The rest of the set had good pacing too although i still don't approve of Miss Sarajevo being played where it is or with Walk On closing the main set. The pit was really into the concert the whole night and when i looked around it seemed the atmosphere in the seats was almost as good. Bono and the band seemed genuinely impressed with the audience and the band was in a playful mood for much of the night.

I managed to take a fair amount of pictures from where I was although i couldn't figure out the camera settings until almost the end of the night. I was too busy jumping up and down loving life to worry about messing with the settings during the concert...finally got them during the last encore O well. Ill post a few of them when i get a chance if anyone is interested. Have video from 4 or 5 songs too that came out in decent quality. Overall it was a great night. I've been tired/sore for the last two days but as always it's well worth it. Can't wait to see the band again in Pittsburgh for maybe their last stadium show ever in the US???

Great read man, I was right there with you! Felt the same things throughout the concert.

I was in the stands (2nd bowl) and I can tell you it was just as crazy up there! Great feelings all throughout the concert. The audience was incredible, the atmosphere of the show was amazing. The boys WERE certainly humbled by the audience I think, very much so. I was proud to be Canadian in that moment
  5. (This isn't my big review...I'm swamped with school work...)

So the 360 Fan Cam pic is up...and I am not in it!!! I went to the bathroom after Interpol/to attempt to exchange a shirt we picked up for my Dad and I missed it. I'm so disappointed.

Also, Springsteen's "The Promised Land" was snippeted after I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and Space Oddity at the end of Beautiful Day. I have emailed U2gigs about it.
  6. Ya he screwed up the lyrics to the Promised Land snippet...only had two lines to remember and he couldn't even get that right

Gotta love him.... I'm sure there are days he forgets his own names.
  10. OK. I finally have the time to write my thoughts about the show (even though I'm sure I should be doing something school related right now instead).

First off, I was so worried about the weather and wondering if the roof would be opened or closed. When they were calling for thunder and lightening I even wondered if they would cancel all together (we were supposed to fly home the next day). But all my fears subsided once we got to the Rogers Centre. The dome was closed even though the weather was holding up. Eventually someone decided to open it so it was cool to experience that as well.

Our seats were good and quite close (we had the most expensive ones aside from the Red Zone and were on Adam's side). The worst part though was that one of the Claw's legs were sort of blocking our view of Bono and Edge. (During the encore for example I couldn't see him swinging from the mic unless I watched it onscreen).

I have to say that Interpol were quite alright. I didn't enjoy them as much as Snow Patrol back in 2009 but when they sang Evil and Slow Hands I was pleased, and they sounded good.

(I already mentioned how I missed the fan cam and how disappointed I am right?).

Finally Space Oddity began playing and the open notes of Even Better Than The Real Thing. I was so pumped to hear it as it's one of my favorite songs. For a little bit it seemed that the music was too loud and I couldn't hear Bono very well. (The same with The Fly). I was also excited to hear Mysterious Ways played since we missed it at the first Toronto show in '09.

No complaints with hearing I Will Follow or Get On Your Boots, but I would have liked to have gotten All I Want Is You since it's one of my favorites, and maybe even Stuck In A Moment because I heard Stay last time, but both Stay and I Still Haven't Found sounded great. For a second I thought we were going to get something new because before Stay Bono talked about how they had recorded Achtung Baby in Berlin 20 years ago and they were bringing some of those songs out. I thought it might be Wild Horses but it was Stay.

I loved the Space Oddity snippet in Beautiful Day and the extended intro of Elevation (something like the Vertigo tour version).

I know people here are tired of it, but when the opening notes of Pride started I couldn't stop smiling. I really love this song and was hoping to hear it live at least once.

I was also pumped to hear Bono's opera in Miss Sarajevo and so excited for Zooropa. It pissed me off to see so many people leaving/taking a breather during these two.

I have been a little tired of City Of Blinding Lights lately but it sounded great live and reminded me why I love it so much. Seeing the little boy on stage with Bono getting into the music was awesome as well. The crowd loved Vertigo and I loved Crazy Tonight (don't care how many of you hate it). I was so excited for the Discotheque snippet too.

Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, and Walk On were next. I enjoyed Sunday, Scarlet was a bit short and I liked Walk On, even though I have been a little tired of that lately as well.

One sounded pretty good, and Streets had the place rocking. When it came time for the encore I was actually praying for Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me and the prayers were answered! This is my 2nd favorite U2 song and prior to last year I never thought I'd hear it played live. (The guys behind me thought they were going to play Lemon, I knew they were wrong but that would have been a welcome suprise).

Finally With Or Without You and Moment Of Surrender sounded nice as well. I couldn't believe the amount of people who were exiting early. I mean if you pay $250 for seats you might as well stay for the entire thing right? (Though there were a few who left after Walk On...).

Overall it was a great show. I can't complain about the set at all since I got to hear nine different songs from the last time I saw them on the same tour. I just can't believe it's all over. Almost two years of build-up and now it's gone. I am trying desperately to win tickets/flight to Moncton from a local radio station because I can't believe they are going to only be two provinces away from me (not to mention ending the tour there) and it's too expensive to fly there.

Anyways, that's my review. I can't wait to wear my Achtung Baby shirt to school tomorrow (I bought that, the 360 tour shirt with the boys on the front and the program which I missed out on last time). I'm going to try to put my pics up this weekend and I will patiently await/hope for a great sounding bootleg.

  11. Nice review Kris. Hope you can get to Moncton.
