  1. Epic tour. If anyone could perfectly pull off larger than life stadium shows night after night for 2 years, it's this band. Loved every minute of every show I saw. I only wish I could have gone to more.

    I've really loved this tour - the Australian leg was sensational. Probably beats Vertigo tour for mine.

    I've been out of action for quite a while now - combination of full-on job and fatherhood - and so I've only been keeping a casual eye on the most recent legs - South America and U.S.

    Can people pls recommend the 3 boots I should look up to capture the experience?

    I have no idea what Real Thing, The Fly or the new Magnificent sound like on this tour but am looking forward to getting into U2 again.

    I'm feeling rejuvenated again because I just got an older work colleague at work into U2 - he has only begun to admire Achtung Baby now!

  4. I still need to wait for the end of the tour to have a global view over it, but it's not that far and I've a few remarks on it.


    What was good :

    - This is probably their best tour of the decade, even though it is difficult to compare it especially with Elevation (almost only arenas). However, Bono's voice was, during most of the tour, very powerful, Adam was better than ever. Larry was good too. In my opinion (and I might be wrong, that's just what I think, please don't hit me :p) only the Edge might have been a little bit worse than he used to be on the last tours. He was still very good though!

    - I loved the concept of the tour, the 360 stuff, the fact they played stadiums... Two years was what this tour needed, more would have been too long and tedious, less would not have let them make the most of the concept (especially of the Claw).

    - The fact they brought back songs they did not play for more than 15 years : UV, TUF...

    - Each year has had a different point of view on U2's career. 2009 led them to promote NLOTH ; 2010 was the year when they brought new songs and 2011 was like a way back to the 90's. Consequently, the setlist radically changed : they brought new songs, Batman, Miss Sarajevo, I Will Follow, Scarlet, Zooropa, EBTTRT, The Fly, plus some other songs occasionnally (AIWIY, OOC...). Even now, the setlist is really different than from what it was at the beginning of the South American leg.

    - They showed us they had balls, especially in 2010. They took some risks after Bono's surgery with the new songs and all that stuff. 2009 shows were good but might have been too casual (once again, that's my opinion), and the guys were able to change that.

    - They played in places they were not used to go (mainly Croatia, Russia, Turkey and South Africa), which allowed some U2 fans to see them for the first time ever.


    What I disliked :

    - Paradoxically, if the setlist has really changed, I sometimes had the impression that it remained kind of rigid from one night to another (especially when there were not two shows in the same city, mainly during the two North American legs).

    - In my opinion, even if the tour was the best of the decade, that's not the case of the DVD. The performance (they were tired and tense I think) and the production could have been better, compared to the rest of the tour. It would have been interesting to have a film of the 2010 or 2011 shows (although we have Glasto).

    - I would have liked them to play more NLOTH at the end of the tour, and to finally play some Pop stuff. However, I must admit that with 12 albums, it's complicated to play many songs from all of them (well, they were not forced to play five songs from ATYCLB at every 2010 show or so either).

    - Too bad for the Asian U2 fans they did not visit them.


    Conclusion? Really good tour, I'd rate it... let's say 8/10.
  5. Can't argue too much withh the above comments. All I can say i s that I hope the majority of you attended at least one show. Although I have certainly enjoyed following the tour with many of you, it does not compare to being in the 360 environment.
  6. Looking back on it in a few years i think it will go down as a really great tour.
    I prefer the more intimate surroundings of the band in an arena environment like Vertigo and Elevation but after those 2 tours it was probably the right decision to go massive in stadiums again and keep things fresh.
    What do you think was the best of the 3 openers? Kingdom/Breathe,Stingray/Beautiful Day or EBTTRT?


  7. Those would be the three I'd go for - lots of different songs, too. I think there's a Mexico City boot that's not too shabby.

  10. I can't help myself....I'm starting to work on one of those "best of 360" compilations.

    Why can't I just enjoy the individual shows as they are?!?!? What the heck is wrong with me.
