My ears aren't that much better than others. Quite a bunch of people noticed there's 'something' wrong with this webcast. Only difference is I quickly recognized what was actually wrong. Thanks to the Salome outtakes, which suffered from the exact same problem. I've listened about 15 years to those demos before I started to think damn this is wrong and another year to find out what was wrong. Since then, I can hear it in a second when there's a phase problem.
Basically, music is very very easy. When you listen with headphones, just imagine you're in front of a stage and think where you should hear the instruments. Intuitively, you'd want to hear the bass and the voice in the middle, you want to hear the guitar on the left because guitarists typically are left on the stage (for the public), and you want the drums where you see them: snare in the middle, hihat on the right, toms from right to left etc. If you listen to music and can't really locate where you hear things, or when you hear sounds somewhere in the soundstage that can't possibly be there, then there's something wrong with the recording.
