  1. I'm sure you have heard about the new Radiohead album that will be released later this week-- In Rainbows, their 7th LP almost three years in the making. Apparently you can pay whatever you want for it. What do you think of this? I think it's brilliant.

    Yep, it's an awesome idea. Maybe they realize that people are gonna download it regardless of legally or not.
  3. Absolutely awesome idea. Every band should realize that if they earn money is NOT bcause of the albums, but of the tours. Therefore, why not keeping the audience glad with low proces on the albums?
  4. Yep, very good. It will be interesting to see what the "sales" and revenue end up being. I personally paid £6.99 for mine. Get it Wednesday.

    I've heard a lot of the songs at their gigs from last year and I'm quite looking forward to this.

  6. Yeah i'll pay them a fair price, this is a wonderful thing they are doing. Putting trust in people to pay what they want and giving them the freedom of choice. Obviously Radiohead have brought a lot of beautiful colours and deep thoughts into my life so i'll pay them whats owed

    I have to agree. If you like them, I think 10 pounds/euros/dollars would be very good to keep them on the right way. Amen again, Radiohead.
  10. I paid £2.95 (a little under $6 USD). I heard somewhere that the average price people are paying is £1, or $2. I wonder how many people are paying $80 for the hard-copy CD.

    I think U2 should do something like this for their next album, since they clearly have plenty of money-- offer their album at a very low price or for free, and then they make their money through touring.

    Yeah I bought three CDs the other day at Borders-- Radiohead's The Bends ('95) and Hail To The Theif ('03) and Oasis' Don't Believe The Truth ('05)-- each was $18. None were recent releases. On Amazon.com they retail for $10.97, $10.97 and $18.97 respectively. To download the Oasis disc from iTunes would have been $9.99. People are downloading so much illegally that the price of CDs gets driven through the roof. By offering music legally at a very low price I think Radiohead has done the most innovative thing in marketing music since The Beatles invented the music video in the 60's. And the truly brilliant thing about digital music is that it doesn't cost anything to replicate MP3 files.

    more bands should definitely try and see how it goes....
    we have to see how it goes for RADIOHEAD... I hope it pays!!! so that other bands are encouraged to follow their lead!!
