If I'm an American, can I bring up the "Americans are stupid" diatribe? At least the ones we've elected to run the country. Obama is inept. The Republicans are crazy. I don't see this getting better anytime soon. Obama just came out today and basically said that no matter what S&P says, America will be a AAA rated country. Bullshit. We suck. We don't deal with bad news- we hide it, and that's going to be our downfall unless we get our heads out of our collective asses. I used to be one of those people that would say that America is the best country in the world, hands down...but I'm quickly losing faith in this country. I'm a Christian conservative...but most of the people who would also fall into that category are batshit insane. Michelle Bachmann? Really? If she gets anywhere near the White House, someone just needs to blow the damned capital up.

Some reports suggesting that similar is threatening to happen in Birmingham. Either which way, it's all absolute bollocks. The world's going mad. Best part? It's taken 3 days for the government to come back from their summer recess to see what there is to be done. Police overstretched? No shit, that's what you get with cuts to the public services and no investment in any kind. All supposedly kicked off on Thursday when (as is reported) a young man called Marc Duggan was shot by police - motives and actual sequence of events are still unclear, but a protest against it took place on Saturday, but now it's spiralled into sheer bloody minded looting and thuggery. No political purpose, just sheer opportunism by worthless worms of human beings. That said, it's no wonder such things haven't occurred before now - the state of our society is poor at best, so it's inevitable that eventually civil unrest would occur soon enough. The true cause behind all of this is far too complex to be rolled into one neatly-sized reason and labelled, but what's happening now is completely apolitical, sheer madness.
