Originally posted by LikeASongI can't agree with you. I know it has got better from the PoP/Elevation tours. That's true. But for me his voice has no longer the VELVET key it had in the Joshua/Lovetown/Zoo eras. Maybe he reaches/holds higher/longer notes, but the key, the tone of his voice...
Anyway thanks for the tribute.

In 93 he was very worn out.

What a shocking statement:
R.D.S (his voice is right on it through the whole show)
Lemon
Daddy's Gonna Pay
Mysterious Ways
Running To Stand Still
etc
etc
etc
His voice is awesome

- Ok for the first Lemon is in falsetto and you can be worned out in the voice and still pull out a great falsetto(just listen to Sarajevo 97 when he use a a very strong falsetto in the "take me higher" part in EBTTRT, the falsetto it is stronger then most of the ZooTV performences of the song).
- Bad, almost every 93 performence had the "Wide Awake" part in falsetto(it much easier to hit a note in a falsetto) and if he sang it normal he sounded very strained. The 92 performences was much stronger
- EBTTRT, well have you ever heard him sing the "take me higher" part in non-faletto in a 93 performence, no. But in 92...
- NYD, in 93 he talked the lines after the first chours, he used a low faletto in "news paper is true"(92 he screamed it and sang the lines, not talk)
- In 93 he basic voice was alot tired, but he still managed to go up high but alot these was done by falsetto.
- A fantastic show, but again compare the NYD, EBTTRT... from that show to 92 performences.

I don't put all these Falsetto parts down to a worn out voice. I think he just did them because he could and he enjoyed it. During Bad he only usually used falsetto for the first 'Wide Awake'. I'll agree that it would be abnormal for him to keep his voice at optimum levels during the course of 150-odd shows. I still think the falsetto was just a bit of fun and it set the 93 tour aparat from the 92 shows which were just Bono 'singing' as usual. A bit of variation is fine by me

The falsetto ruined the intensive with Bad... Bono always want to push his voice in the songs. But he had problem in 93 and it was mch easier for him to use falsetto instead of overuse it in "Wide Awake" just listen when he sings it the second time on the Dublin show, he sounds very strained. He wasnt able to hit the note high and clear and I think that was the big reason.
