1. Dear all
I was reading what someone was saying about the Vertigo version of the Fly, and I thought It would be funny ask this topic. Which versions from the different tours for a song do you prefeer above the others? I'll tell you mine:

--Where the streets have no name, Popmart.
--Zoo station and The fly, Vertigo. They sound really cool without the Madchester-alike sound.
    --The electric co. --Boy tour
    --Desire --Lovetown
--With or without you --zoo tv.
    --Bad --zooropa tour

    well, what about yours?

  2. Well, it's difficult to tell!

Bad and with or Without You were great in '92, yes...

    Kite 2006?

Desire 2006 also is very good...

    The U Fire, early 1987, I would say (24-4, 29-4).

One tree hill 2006, very intense.

Mysterious Ways was great in some '97 shows.

But in fact there are gems all over...

  3. Where The Streets Have No Name: Elevation (so full of emotion)
Running To Stand Still: ZooTV (guitar really great)
The Fly: ZooTV (Bono's voice so strong)
Even Better Than The Real Thing: Popmart (drums!)
Bullet The Blue Sky: ZooTV (guitar solo just the best)
Sunday Bloody Sunday: Elevation tour (snippets)
Beautiful Day: Vertigo tour (cool snippets)
    Elevation: Vertigo tour (slow intro)
Mysterious Ways: Popmart (if it was just only for the My Sweet Lord snippets )
One: Popmart (great combination after Mysterious Ways)
Bad: Lovetown (great Bono voice and snippets)

    Just a few examples
  4. Where The Streets Have No Name - Joshua Tree (Bono's voice, the intro, the lights)

    Mysterious Ways - Zoo TV

With or Without You - My favourite song, all categouries and I think that this song is exellent on every tour except on some elevation/vertigo performances where Bono's voice was fucked up. In Zoo TV, the guitar part just before the Shine Like Stars snippet is awsome (you'll find it in the second RFK Washington show and the second Globe Stockholm show, just to mention a few). The snippets from the early versions (both Shine like stars and love will tear us apart and the power in bonos voice in the same versions is also a favourite.

Running To Stand Still - Zoo TV (The guitar is superior to the piano from Joshua Tree Tour. Bono sings with much more feeling too).

The war songs were best on the war tour.

That's right. And for some reason, those tours vertions are some kind of emotion less. Maybe because they played very early in the show.

  6. Bad - Unforgettable Fire / Joshua
    Streets - Joshua
    Running - Zoo
With Or Without You - Joshua
    Pride - Lovetown
    Desire - Lovetown
    One - Zoo
I Will Follow - every tour, never gets old...

The Joshua Tree and Lovetown tour versions were so great because of his voice, the Rattle and Hum DVD performance is totally awesome, with the Shine Like Stars snippet, Bono's guitar playing, just awesome.
  8. Until the end of the world
Ultraviolet (light my way)-With or without you-Love is Blindness of Zoo Tv 1st and 2nd leg
    Streets
    Desire
    Staring at the sun
    Zoo station
    The fly
    11 o´clock tick tock
Bullet the blue sky-running to stand still Zoo Tv
    Beautiful day
    An cat dubh-into the heart
and I do not follow that I put all

Agree, but I also like Larry's beat, very intense and Edge different solos. Both were not specially impresive in that song during the last tours, I believe.
  11. my favorite live version is bad from denver the joshua tree tour

  12. Yeah, the Denver 1987-11-07 Bad is just awesome...incredible! And the Joshua-Rattle With Or Without You, with Shine Like Stars and Love Will Tear Us Apart are also fantastic...
