An intresting essay I found on why gun control is bullshit.
Johnny Get Your Gun
An in-depth analysis of the unconstitutional destructive gun legislation in America. Right now Gun control laws are posing an immediate threat to me, you, and everybody in the building. Something to think about. No one here is armed. Everybody here is defenseless. There’s no way to ensure a criminal is unarmed. There’s no way to protect yourselves if attacked. How will you survive? All of us are defenseless against criminals, rapists, and assassins. Any law that denies the right to bear arms is unconstitutional and is removing a fundamental liberty. Any law that takes guns away from helpless law abiding citizens endangers the population and puts them at risk from attacks. I propose that congress eliminate the laws which prohibit guns, firearms, rifles, assault weapons, munitions, their purchase, trade, possession, usage, manufacturing and the like in order to secure the right to defend ourselves as the second amendment allows. These laws do not stop criminals from getting guns, increasing crime as they render people defenseless. Gun control laws save no lives, as they target a nonexistent threat of gun dangers and instead kill people. The answer to these problems is not only removing these laws, but embracing the idea of an armed nation. Gun control fails, it kills, and more guns are ultimately better at stopping bad things from happening. Let’s find out why opponents of gun control are fond of saying more guns, less crime.
Gun control laws fail at eliminating crime from our society. It made sense back then that if the government removed guns in order to protect the people from themselves, crime would go down. I would agree with this too, if not for the major illogical flaws and holes that are ignored. How do they know that criminals won’t just ignore the laws? According a statistic by the Bureau of Justice, 80 percent of criminals get their guns from an illegal illegitimate source, bypassing these laws. Any laws targeting the small percentage of criminals who are challenged enough to buy a gun legally fail at bagging the big prize. Gun permits are also ineffective. In another statistic by the Bureau of Justice, between 1994 and 2006 only 1.9 percent of permits received were denied. Criminals wouldn’t bother with the process of buying guns legally. They get there guns the way criminals get guns, by criminal means. These laws fail at removing guns from criminal hands. In an article by Steve Otfinoski, his research indicates there are over 20,000 gun control laws in effect now. What gives people the notion that the addition of any more laws will succeed? The large numbers of laws in place that don’t work and do not target the larger criminal body are time consuming obstacles to those who require firearms for self-defense.
Gun control laws only cause more destruction on the streets all over America. The same laws that are supposed to be protecting people backfire and make them vulnerable prey. As stated previously, gun control laws do not affect criminals and disarm citizens. We should see a decrease in crime, but the results are quite interesting. As stated in an article by the renown John R. Lott Jr of Chicago, Great Britain banned handgun sin January 1997. But the number of deaths and injuries from gun crime in England and Wales increased an incredible 340%. In a different article by Roger D. McGrath, he states that in 1981, not too long ago, Morton Grove, Illinois, adopted a handgun ban for everyone other than police officers. Crime increased 16 percent. People still committed crimes when guns were outlawed, or in other words criminals unaffected by legislation pounced on the disarmed unsuspecting civilians with their weapons. England and Morton Grove are two very different places, but in both cases gun control failed tremendously. Mandatory Gun Safety Locks which are aimed at preventing accidental gun deaths among children kill many more than they save. In the article When Gun Control Costs Lives by John R. Lott, he found that safe storage laws had no effect on teen suicide or accidental deaths and that states that adopted these laws faced an increase of more than 300 more murders and 3,860 more rapes per year. Not only did this law fail at reaching its goal, it also raised the number of people killed and the number of people raped.
One more final extremely hazardous law is gun free zones on college campuses. I cite the Virginia Tech massacre. Roger D. McGrath states that Virginia Tech was a gun free zone. Meaning no guns are allowed on campus. Apparently it was poorly enforced, along with other laws I’ll get to in a second. The shooter, whose name doesn’t deserve recognition he wanted, had taken a small arsenal of weapons on campus. Then, as stated by McGrath, He shot, reloaded, shot, walked from room to room, shot reloaded. He was in no hurry. He had no expectation that a fellow student or a faculty member might shoot back. Everyone in the school was unarmed because they were lawful people. 32 people died that day. Those people could still be alive today if someone had been armed. What’s more, if gun control laws had worked, he shouldn’t have even obtained a gun. J. Thomas Bennett states that the shooter was in the database for background checks due to being involuntary institutionalized. Bennett also states that the shooter had been stalking two female students. That is a double whammy against the shooter, but gun control fails totally and completely, we shouldn’t have expected it to stop him. Those 32 did not have to parish from this inexcusable criminal act. Had only one been armed, who knows how many could have been saved.
There is one answer for all of these problems. More guns. In the responsible hands, guns are very effective in reducing violence, murder, rape, and criminal activity. People need the right to carry concealed weapons to defend against criminals. John Lott states that for each year that right to carry laws are in effect, murder rates decline 1.5 percent, and rape, robbery, and aggravated assault fall by 3%. Opponents of more guns less crime want to blame homeowner’s guns. John Lott states no more than 14 percent of the gun deaths can be attributed to the homeowner’s gun. People who own guns are extremely careful when it comes to the handling of weapons. According to Shaun Connell, two million more crimes are prevented with guns than are caused by guns. That’s right; two million crimes are prevented with guns after subtracting the crimes caused by guns. John Lott adds that in 98% of those acts simply brandishing the weapon is sufficient to stop the attack. That eliminates casualties, friend or foe. Roger D. McGrath also states in 1982, Kennesaw, Georgia, passed an ordinance requiring every head of household to own and maintain a gun. Kennesaw saw its crime rate go down 50% just because people were armed and could defend themselves. In all instances when guns were introduced into an area, crime went down. People are responsible enough to defend against criminals and they need guns to stay safe.
Now, this wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t let my opponents have a word, now would it? Here is Mayor Daily of Chicago at a press conference after the confiscation of a large arsenal of weapons.

Less than ideal is right. For those of you less capable the mayor responded to a question regarding the effectiveness of Chicago’s gun ban. In other words, he said that if he sodomize the reporter with a larger caliber rifle and fired a round into his rear, the reporter would see how effective the ban just was. It really goes to show that Gun Control is a sound argument, especially when a political lobbyist rebuttal to a simple question involved the sodomization of a reporter. Nicely done Mayor Daily.
To conclude, I propose that congress both house and senate remove the laws which prohibit guns, firearms, rifles, assault weapons, munitions, their purchase, trade, possession, usage, manufacturing and the like in order to achieve immunity on the streets from violent burglars, thugs, and deranged shooters. Gun control laws fail at removing guns from criminal hands. Gun control kills people by rendering them incapable of defense. Guns are the key to safety and are far better than gun control ever was or will be at reducing crime. Guns save lives period. You can sit around defenseless your whole life and watch people get robbed, murdered and raped and let those things happen to you, or arm yourself as the second amendment allows you too.
