1. Websockets AKA LiveTopics works natively
  2. How's Windows 8? IE10 quicker than Chrome?
  3. About the same speed i reckon. Much quicker than Firefox anyway.

Windows 8 is bit shocking, there is no startmenu anymore, but a startpage (part of the METRO interface used on Windows Phone7). They also supply Metro apps like IE (although IE also has the regular interface), weather app, alarm app, stocks app, etc.

The original 'desktop' is an 'app' as well, hard to explain. But there are a few vids on youtube that will explain it lots better

Basically Windows 8 is a combination of this video:

+ Windows 7 as we know it
  4. Should I not be using Firefox? I had always thought it was best, but maybe not. (Thoughts on Safari? I'm on an iMac)
  5. I like Safari, especially the most recent version, for my MacBook. No problems with it.
  6. I do like that Metro interface for Windows Phone, so it should definitely be interesting to see how it works on a desktop. You're using a beta version, Chris, or a RC - is it worth downloading and having a try of it to see if I like it?

Just looks totally strange but change can be good. So this is why it requires lesser hardware than other versions of Windows of recent memory (e.g. Vista, 7 etc)?
  7. MS released a 'developer preview'. Its like a beta, free for everyone to download. Since w8 = w7 + metro interface, it is expected to be heavier. So somehow they speed up the system in another way.
  8. ^ Thanks for that. Looks interesting to say the least, the reception though when it gets released might be different.

Trying to create a Youtube video with just audio and a black background - anyone know how? I can use Mac or Windows.

iMovie? You can then upload directly to Youtube from iMovie.
  10. Ahhhhh didn't think of that.
  11. Trying to get an old version of Handbrake to work (haven't used it in quite some time), but I'm only able to get the first 33 seconds of a movie to convert. It says the ETA is 53 minutes at the start, but then it only does the conversion for about 1 minute, then kicks out a 33 second clip of the opening titles of the movie I'm trying to rip. Any thoughts? I thought it was a free program, maybe I only have a trial version or something? Help?
  12. Edit: Probably a copyright/encryption thing, yeah?
