I am surpirsed at RH not mixing it up a bit more. They were great at alternating songs during the In Rainbows tour. They must really love their KOL and IR tracks. Also, I don't expect songs like "Paranoid Android" every night (I have a feeling that one might go on hiatus for at least part of the next tour) but not playing a few more upbeat tracks like "Just," "Airbag" "Optimistic." etc. might be a bit of a downer in terms of energy at the show. For better or worse, it would definitely have been two very mellow nights at the Roseland Ballroom this week.
I now have all the albums, most of which I bought on iTunes. Is it worth getting the special editions with the extra discs? If they are good, then I certainly wouldn't mind having them on cd as well. I have none of their b-sides, just the album tracks (along with bootlegs). I'm just curious if it's worth the money to get them.
Radiohead have great, great b-sides, so it would definitely be worth it. However, you may just want to by a bunch individually as opposed to repurchasing the studio albums again. If you choose this route, be sure to get Banana Co, Permanent Daylight, Talk Show Host, Killer Cars, How Can You Be Sure?, Polyethylene, Pearly, A Reminder, Palo Alto, Cuttooth, and Fog. Those are the ten best off the top of my head but it is, of course, all a matter of taste....except for Talk Show Host (which you've probably heard on your bootlegs).
Thanks. I knew you would come through with an answer. Yes. I've definitely heard Talk Show Host. I kind of want to repurchase the albums anyway since cd quality is a lot better than burning a disc from mp3s. I knew they had great b-sides, I just haven't heard much. I know some of the special editions have live tracks as well. I'll probably get them over time, I just wasn't sure if they were good or just a bunch of filler for reepackaging.
The Kid A and Amnesiac reissues are great. They have pretty much all the songs from the 2001 Canal Studios Show in Paris - a classic RH concert.
You'll have a nice set with those six albums.
Also, look for the In Rainbows bonus tracks if you haven't already. However, if you end up purchasing them individually from itunes, save yourself a couple a bucks and avoid MK1 and MK2. THOSE are indeed filler.
I ended up getting the In Rainbows disc 2 today from the band's website. I really enjoyed it. I noticed none of the songs you listed were from it, which means I will definitely be trying the others.
Also, Rolling Stone did a reader's top 10 Radiohead songs last week and here is what they came up with. I thought it was pretty good.
1. Paranoid Android
2. Creep
3. Fake Plastic Trees
4. Karma Police
5. Everything in Its Right Place
6. Street Spirit
7. Let Down
8. There There
9. Reckoner
10. How to Disappear Completely

I should have listed a couple of those ones. I didn't think of them at the time as they aren't really "b-sides." I really like "Up on the Ladder" and "Four-Minute Warning."
