    PJ are a great live band but I still think you should start with the studio albums/tracks. Any of the first three albums (Ten, Vs, and Vitalogy) are a great place to start. However, they have so many other great tracks so I might suggest a "bad thing" and recommend that you start with their two-disc greatest hits album Rearviewmirror. Lots from the first three albums (their best three) and a bunch more tracks from 1992-2003. If you like this, you'll want to get oh so much more.

    Rearviewmirror and then the album cronologically from Ten to Backspacer, like Kieran is doing it seems
    not forgetting Lost dogs at the end
  9. Lost Dogs is definitely a must. One would also have to hunt down "Leatherman" and "Long Road" (the latter from Merkin Ball, I suppose) to ensure they get all the essential b-sides. But now I am getting ahead of myself.
  10. Yeah, that is exactly what I'm doing - listening to the albums chronologically. I'm leaving Binaural for a while, and listening to live stuff from No Code and Yield to get used to it. I'm just taking my time. Looking at Rearviewmirror, it looks like a great compliation, and when I have money, I might actually purchase it. I'll eventually buy all Pearl Jam albums, but it'll take time. I will listen to Lost Dogs after I've listened to all the Pearl Jam albums in their entirety.

    One thing though, I never initally listened to Rearviewmirror, but I listened to most of the first CD on Saturday, and it sounds great, and definitely an outstanding compliation by the looks of things.

    Currently, I have 'State of Love and Trust' stuck in my head, as my Computing lesson comes to an end
  11. Good idea. PJ, although still playing great rock music, really start experimenting at Binaural and I would say that more patience with this era of music is required. I have been revisiting Binaural and Riot Act as I never gave them much attention when they first came out. This is compounded by the fact that these albums only got two songs each for the Rearviewmirror package. However, songs like "Insignificance" and "Love Boat Captain" are definitely worth your time.

    Also, Lost Dogs should indeed be saved for the end and I agree with an earlier statement you made that Yield is better than No Code - although "In My Tree" is one of the best songs they've ever done.
