Yeah, the e string is a little shit. I was tuning from Open D to Standard, and it snapped - I think it was because I was tuning up too fast. As you can tell, I was obviously playing Even Flow by Pearl Jam...
  3. I remember when I broke my first string, I was so shocked.

That's the worst part of it, when they break when you're tuning... If they break while you're playing, well, you can tell you're excited enough to have broken it, that's ok... But when you're tuning? Oh, man, you're relaxed and suddenly... CLINNGGG!!! Oooohhh I hate ittt
  5. It sure is quite scary when it happens.

I hate the sound when it snaps - it's the sound of complete devastation in your head - and also, it sounds very frightening too. The first time a string broke on my guitar was when my brother was playing - he was playing Pink Floyd (which requires a fair amount of string bending), and then 'e' snapped. I was pissed off, because I really wanted to play it after him.

There is someone in my year who is absoutely pro at guitar in my year, and he uses steel nickel string. One time, he was playing and his string snapped, and actually cut his arm up, at least a few inches - it looked horrible & violent. People had thought that he had properly cut himself delibrately
  7. My right wrist was scratched all the time after the first time that I changed the strings on my acoustic guitar myself. I hadn't cut them off close enough to the bridge, so the little string parts that stuck out there scratched my wrists up totally. I think that I even started to bleed once.
  8. Couple questions about Edge's setup over 360. I check this thread regularly and very much enjoy it, don't think these have been asked but my apologies if I missed it.

-What replaced the FX rack on stage? They look like monitors to me, but would he still need them even with his headphone feed?

-Did Edge ever play Magnificent with a Telecaster on tour? I know he did during some promo shows, and here during rehearsals, but all photos/videos I saw showed the Gretsch Country Gentleman (or the new Black Falcon for the Nelson Mandela remix version). Could anyone hear any difference between Tele vs. Gretsch performances? They sounded identical to me.
  9. From the video I've seen during the tour... Edge used a Gretsch Country Gent for all performances of "Magnificent" during the 360 tour, EXCEPT, in Oakland; where he used the Gretsch Black Falcon.

He used the Telecaster Custom during the BBC rooftop promo show.

There was a clip on U2.com, from during the sessions for NLOTH, that showed him playing a tobacco finish Telecaster on "Magnificent".
