1. Hi, I think this could be a good topic to ask the folks if its worth to finish a project.

Next week I have 3 weeks holidays. And then I want to start my Paris-Matrix 2009-07-12. But It will be very hard, because I have to remaster the Bono-Iems from Bedoc first. They are very low. This project will take much time, so I ask you if it's worth. Or should I wait when Julien throw out his better iems in 2 years or something?

My first try today, mixed with the godfather-audience source:

    No Line On The Horizon

  2. Isn't the godfather source already super compressed and processed?

Personally I'd wait until a better IEM source, but that's me.
  3. I only work the on the iems. The Godfather source I'll only use a little to give the iems some more atmosphere and the important thing, the bass. I don't work on the Godfather source. But I can try to use the M!les source too. About the iems. I think I have managed it to make them useable. Just listen to my sample. I think it's good. Only too much bass not EQ'ed yet.
  4. Basically for a scanner source, you're going want to boost the bass, but have a sharp drop at 50-60hz because you'll get a nice hum from the internal recorder circuitry if you boost bass too much. Then you're going to want to roll off the highs broadly, probably at 4k being the center of the dip.

Then you'll need to go in and do spectral repair on all the static dropouts, which can take some time depending on the recording. You may not be able to rescue it, but you can make it more listenable and less intrusive. I'll give it a listen tomorrow and let you know.
  5. I've just mixed for fun the Alysha-recording from Munich 2010 with the recording from Taper Fox. I'm very surprised by the result. Sounds great to my ears with much more "Live-Feeling" to me.

    Here a lossless Flac-sample about 40 MBs:

  6. Listened to the original No Line clip. Bono's voice sounds very tinny, click is pretty high (only so much you can do to it), and everything sounds too compressed. I know Godfather is probably over compressed to begin with, but whatever you got, dial it back by 50%. I'd say wait until the better IEM or at least tweak this source a bit. Try going for a more natural open sound rather than the high amount of overt processing.

    Hello hello!
    Great, great work!
I also think that the Fox version has more live feel and i think it sounds even better as a matrix with the Alysha version.
Can you please mix the whole show if you had time and fun to do it?
    Thanks
    Frank
  8. Maybe in my holdidays. But it seems that I also have to work the next 2 weeks.
  9. Last one is an older one.

With or Without you done with the "Stadtfelder" source from Berlin 2001-07-29. Waiting for Feedback. So I will decide which one I'll finishing first. No Feedback. No finishing.
