1. Can someone share the samples of Blow and EBTTRT ?
  2. WAIT, so where the songs off Achtung Baby remastered for the Best of 1990-2000 & U218? because they sound better / louder ish than Achtung on CD. ??? is that an example of what Neil McCormick was talking about?
  3. Remastering technically refers to the process of creating a new master from the analog tapes - this wasn't done as apparently the album wouldn't benefit from it.

So it isn't remastered, but they do seem to have done other sonic enhancements like making it louder, reducing noise etc.

If someone can rip the iTunes track previews it'd be interesting to look at the waveforms and compare to the original tracks - see if the compression introduces any clipping.
  4. HI, I'm sorry if this has been covered before in the forums (i'm sure it has many times) but I haven't been around in a long while. Probably about 6 months in fact. I'm looking forward to re-issue but the DVD just being Sydney again is a real downer.

Can anyone explain to me this decision when they had several other pro-shots to choose from? Anyone who wanted Sydney could have got it on the cheap for years now.

They had a bunch of leftovers they couldn't sell when Sydney was released. So they recycled it. That's also the reason why the boxes are limited: There's only a certain number of Sydney DVDs left.
  6. I'm listening to an MP3 CD rip compared to the iTunes previews.

The MP3 CD rips sound much grittier and rougher that I did a few years ago (as was standard for the time the album was mastered, mixed and released), as compared to these iTunes ones - they sound sharper and equalised much more so. They just sounded a little bit more brighter too, which was the case with the early album remasters (Boy, October and War), except I didn't like those all that much; October being by far the worst. Too clean and 'natural' for me.

The snares in certain songs e.g. Ultra Violet and Love Is Blindness sound much more prevalent than the original CDs as do the vocals. There'd be no point - I think - doing rips of the iTunes streams, as you're only comparing a compressed recording to other rips with different codecs. Again, they're going to sound different, and ripping in iTunes as compared to EAC with LAME which I use, would sound slightly different.

Korova sounds much more cleaner and heavier. I hope they haven't made it too loud - there's far too many re-releases where that's done and it makes the album unbearable e.g. Welcome To My Nightmare, Thriller, Dark Side Of The Moon etc.

  9. Kind sucks you dont really get to see what is in it. And they opened the box and after that started to talk about Coldplay.
  10. If someone wants me to, I may try to translate the interview.

I don't know whether it is mentioned before or not, but Corbijn said the Übersupadeluxebox is sold out.
