1. Okay, so this is probably heresy on a U2 forum...but this is an honest question.

Better concept album? Mylo Xyloto or Sgt. Pepper?

I'm not disputing the fact that The Beatles are better than Coldplay...but it's a really good concept album. There's not a song on here that I don't like (which I can't say about Sgt. Pepper.).
  2. Without hearing all of MX:

    Sgt. Peppers.
  3. I suppose this may not be an entirely fair question, since they didn't really try and weave one consistent storyline through Sgt. Pepper the way that MX does...
  4. Sgt. Pepper is Sgt. Pepper, one of the records of all time, I very much doubt that MX will receive that status.

I feel like I could have phrased my question better, because I don't disagree with that statement, either.
  6. Yeah, but you can't judge if you haven't listened to one of the albums. Even if you are completely confident that Sgt. Peppers is better, you cannot judge.

Personally, I think Sgt. Peppers is over-rated, mainly because of Rolling Stone saying it's the best album of all time. I'll admit that it's a really good album, but over-rated. MX won't receive any 'best album of all time', and it won't even get near it - but it isn't exactly a bad album - even though it's received relatively mixed reviews, and that it's most definitely not Coldplay's best album.

Anyway, I've went off in a bit of a tangent.
  7. I've heard most of MX, even heard the songs live. And you can also judge the excitement.

Still, you have heard the album in order, in full
  9. Noooooo of course not, never a Coldplay album will reach such a legendary status. I think this album is to easy and I just dont get it that they are qualified as talented. A lot of songs or part of songs are stolen from other artist.

No I haven't, and I did say that before I made my comment.

That was supposed to be 'haven't' by the way
  12. another 'fabian dislikes a so-called great album'-post, don't read if you don't want to

Q: Why is Sgt. Pepper a better concept album?
A: Because it is Sgt. Pepper.

    The dumbest argument ever given.

    My opinion:
Any Coldplay album > Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Sometimes it seems like the awesomeness of some songs does not need to be explained.
You will all blindly agree: The Joshua Tree, Sgt. Peppers and A Rush Of Blood To The Head are great albums. Katy Perry, October and Wild Honey are crap.

No-one ever told me why The Joshua Tree is such a great album.

    You know what I mean.
