1. Ha, ha. "Deep"....

Here's hoping that you don't lose your mind like I have since Sept 11, 2011 (when I saw them live for the first time in 13 years and haven't really been able to listen to any other band since...aside from maybe a tiny bit of U2, of course).

I "Long Road" indeed...you won't be saying "I Got Shit" with those two albums, that's for sure. (Sorry, couldn't resist).

i feel that for songs like Alive, Small town, Nothingman, Better man, Jeremy and alike an italian show is always, if not the best, a very very good choice.
something similar to Still haven't found.

@Mat .. it will end up to be a Monster mix and it could not be different for a detailed report of a PJ tour .. don't think in U2 style hehehe

I've have now learned that when PJ plays two nights in your town, it's best to get tickets for both shows.

U2 has 46 songs (aisde from never-been-released tracks) from a THREE-YEAR to choose from U22. Pearl Jam played 49 different songs in TWO NIGHTS in Toronto, 2011.

Yes.As great as U2 are live, performance wise, they have never played a wide variety on a single tour, for that year. They have always done that, and I think that is the single reason why they dont release live shows,or numerous shows from a tour year.2005 was the exception from the norm.Different openers, and different encores each night,in 2005.

Thanks alot.I will post part 2 today.I know its alot of songs, but I cant help but love how they play so many great songs, each and every night.Verona,Berlin and Hamburg will be represented.Salzburg is another solid gig,as is Slovenia.I was lucky enough to attend 3 of these great shows,Barcelona,London2 and Milan.Maybe Im biased, but I just love this leg.As I did with U2s European leg, in 2010.Must be my strong European roots, lol.

The one song the band struggled with bigtime on this tour was,Insignificance. The slow break/middle section, the guitar riff is always off key. There is a clean version, from the last few European gigs from 2000.I will find it today. It might snow here in NYC.Weather is crazy here. Not a bad time to blast the last few gigs from Europe 2000.

The Verona bootleg, has a great, great version of Immortality.EV finally remembers all the lyrics....lol

The (unfortunate) thing about long mixes is that I rarley have enough time to listen to them from start to finish.

Great year to be both a U2 and PJ fan.

Yes,the band were a good 12 songs in I believe. They just finished Daughter, and were about to play Alive.Thats when EV saw the bodies being pulled over the barricades. In the film, you can actually see him crying on the stage. That is one of the reasons he wouldnt sing Alive after that.Until the final night of the tour......

No. I only heard about it last week. I was wondering if some of the footage in PJ20 was also from that film. I am assuming it's quite good.

I've been listening to my Italy 2006 mix. Those truly were five great shows. The crowd sounds great. Were you at any (all?) of them?

i was in Milan and Verona .. very suggestive location here .. i regreat a little i didn't Pistoia another cool location

here a "nice" article about the tragedy

Interesting read. It makes sense that the European Tour ended here. Embarrassingly, I initially thought it was a coincidence that the tragedy occurred on the last date as opposed to what really happened - them cancelling the remaining shows. Good for them. I am sure they put forth an extra something when they returned to Europe in 2003.
  8. I just watched 20 today. Amazing documentary!!! Very well made, I could write a 10 page review on how awesome it was at different parts, but just watch it and you'll see what I mean (if you haven't already).

I'm now pissed off I didn't go see them when they came here I was all "concerted out" after seeing U2 so many times this summer that I was like "Ahhh I've had enough for now". Now I regret it. I've always loved this band since the first time someone showed me Alive. Ah well.
  9. I saw one show (T.O. Night 1) but am STILL kicking myself for not getting to the next evening's show and even the show a few days later in Hamilton. What are ya gonna do?

The answer to that rhetorical question is simply pick up some of those Canadian bootlegs when they are released - hopefully soon.

The band came very close to breaking up after that. They actually didnt return to Europe til 2006.

The first show, after the tragedy,is 08.03.00 .Virginia Beach,VA.They open up with a very subdued, but also intense version of Long Road. You can hear the anguish in Eddies voice throughout the show. Try to check that gig out...
